Another classic in new colours is the Marc by Marc Jacobs Dr. Q Groovee Tote, which also comes in Indigo, Light Brown and Coral. Retailing for just SGD939, it’s a great steal too.

Apparently the Lil Riz and Groovee in Light Brown are exclusive to Marc by Marc Jacobs at DFS Scottswalk Galleria, so in case anyone is looking for those, you know where to go.

Squishy and soft, both these lightweight leather babies do not look like typical Coach pieces at all, which could prove either boon or bane. What do you think?

A: Dear Erica, sorry for the late reply. I have mixed feelings about this particular piece. On one hand, getting almost anything from Chanel would be foolproof since almost all of their pieces are considered iconic classics. On the other hand, this particular piece is almost entirely made of canvas and paying over SGD2000 for it is rather foolhardy. 

Tell you what, why don’t you check out all the great sales going on at the moment and see if your heart falls for anything else. At the end of the day, if you find nothing else and if you can truly afford the Chanel, go for it. But in my books, this is strictly a good-to-have, not a must-have. You have been advised.

1. Trina, considering the fact that you are about 5 ft tall, I am afraid that both the Damier Ebene Trevi PM and the Coach Madison Leather Sabrina may be too big for your build. I think the Neverfull MM could work for you, though the one in Damier Ebene will not be released in Singapore till after March (or even later) at least.

2. Natsumi, congrats on your latest Chanel purchase. Do send me pics of your precious new baby.

3. Lisa, definitely choose Black for your Chanel 2.55 Reissue. As to whether to go for the matte or metallic versions ask yourself this. Would you use it as an everyday bag (then choose matte) or just a special occasion evening bag (then choose metallic). Do update me when you decide ok?

4. Fay, I am sorry but your friends are right. I don’t like that Celine bag much either.

Coach as always was crowded (sale or no sale), as was Gucci (the SAs were unpacking loads of boxes and their sale starts 1 December!) and I caught sight of the Bottega Veneta Marble Intrecciato Nappa Vichy Bag which comes in Azur and Burnt Orange.

Strangely I was attracted to this particular bag even though it resembles checked PVC table coverings used by many households in the 90s. Perhaps it was the buttery-soft leather, perhaps it was the cute little size, perhaps it reminded me of my happy childhood sitting at the table eating my Mum’s home-made cheesecake, but all the feelings I got from just looking at it were good. Even if it costs SGD3930.

It has been some time since I did anything on Bottega Veneta and with the release of the Cruise 2009 Womens Bottega Veneta ad campaign I thought it would be apt to do a quick update on the 3 lovely bags featured.

First up, the Bottega Veneta Embroidered Shiny Goatskin Bag in Cobalt that retails for a cool SGD9830. Next, we have the Bottega Veneta Marble Intrecciato Nappa Shopper in Nero and this baby will set you back by SGD8730. And last but not least, the Bottega Veneta Intrecciato Shiny Goatskin Bag in Multicolor, that also sells for SGD8730.

Yes they are all pricey, but that’s the price you pay for true luxury.

Not surprisingly it is also a very product-focused campaign, perhaps in an attempt to showcase the newer releases and drum up sales in time for the approaching festive season. In this ad alone there are 8 different items, including 2 from the Monogram Scuba collection, the Louis Vuitton Candy Bag Charm and the Louis Vuitton Farandole Bracelet.

The 3rd Galliera (not yet released in Singapore) is the Louis Vuitton Galliera Amalfitana which appeals to me more. The amount of work it took just to weave strands of raffia with the Monogram pattern is amazing, but it also explains the SGD4190 pricetag. Yes it is more expensive, but don’t you agree it looks so much better than the Galliera Riviera?

Finally we got the Louis Vuitton Galliera Smeralda, which will only be offered to VICs for the time being. Then again, with it being in exotic python and costing SGD10,300 perhaps only this select group will be able to afford it. Much too excessive in my opinion.

Interestingly, all 3 Gallieras are named after the exotic locales, Riviera after St. Tropez in France, Amalfitana after Amalfi Coast in Italy and Smeralda after Costa Smeralda, also in Italy.

Just got to keep convincing myself that I do not really need it, and pray I do not come across it in either Macau or Hong Kong next week. Fingers crossed.

Now that the Cruise 2009 Womens Louis Vuitton collection is really upon us, I thought it would be appropriate to present more previews to all of you. Besides the new Monogram Scuba and Travel Shopper collections and the 3 new Gallieras, there is also a patent leather Mahina and 3 new Monogram Motard clutches. Other goodies include a new jewellery collection called My Monogram (which includes rings, earrings, an ankle chain and a waist chain), a gorgeous pair of Monogram Miroir sneakers, the list just goes on and on.

And if you are keen on anything, just head straight to Louis Vuitton at Ngee Ann City and put yourself on the wait lists (unless you are a VIC, which also means you probably had first dibs on this collection already anyway) and hope for the best.
