Coach Beach Embossed Exotic Large Tote

Along with the Coach Pierre-Le Tan collection that will be released in Singapore next Wednesday is this: the Coach Beach Embossed Exotic Large Tote which in my opinion looks nothing like a beach tote. Part of their bigger Coach Beach collection, this particular piece is all-leather, measuring 50 cm by 35 cm with embossed python detailing on the body. I do like the fact that one can probably use this at work, comfortably holding a 15″ laptop and a couple of files (though that might make it too heavy to carry over the shoulder).

Still it is something worth checking out, and at just SGD1579 there is really no reason not to. Use it as a work bag, use it as a mummy bag. Just not at the beach.

Coach Star Totes

A celebrity charity initiative, the Coach Star Totes collection is a one-off, one-piece special limited edition that features the creations (or in this case, doodlings) of over 50 celebrities, including Jessica Alba, Eva Longoria, Julianne Moore and Charlize Theron, which will be auctioned off online at Coach on 13 May 2010, with proceeds benefitting Jackie Chan’s Almsdeed Foundation.

Asian stars and celebrities are not left out either, and I picked some (out of over 50) to feature right here. Clockwise from top right we’ve got totes designed by Andy Hui (jig-saw anyone?), Karen Mok (stars galore), Sammi Cheng (asking ‘What Is Life’), Vanness Wu (a total mess), Joe Chang (can’t really make out what it is) and Gigi Leung (who basically drew herself).

My personal favourite has got to be the one done by reformed bad boy Edison Chen, a dirty ’slashed’ tote that’s all stained and weathered. Strangely, I like it!

Celebs And Bags #54 – Longchamp Exotic Gatsby & Leighton Meester

One of Longchamp’s most underrated bags, the Longchamp Exotic Gatsby was seen recently on Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester during the filming of the series’ third season. Retailing for SGD1722 each, the python-style buffalo leather comes in a wide variety of stunning colours this season, including Citrine Yellow (shown above) and Parma Pink. Safer colour options also include Beige and Mocha, though I think ‘brights’ are the way to go this season. Currently available in Singapore as well, you can check them out at ION Orchard, Paragon and Takashimaya Department Store.

More interesting to note however is the soon-to-be-launched Coach Sydney, which in my humble opinion bears a striking resemblance to the Longchamp Gatsby. Sure, one can say the latter is more complicated with more bells and whistles, but honestly, the basic frame and form are the same, aren’t they?

The Search For The Perfect Manbag #74 – Coach Mens Hamptons Weekend Tote

Also known as the ‘better-late-than-never’ bag, the Coach Mens Hamptons Weekend Tote has finally found its way into Singapore. First spotted at DFS Scottswalk Galleria and just yesterday at both Coach Paragon and Raffles City Shopping Centre, I’m most impressed with the one in Blue (shown above).

Seriously roomy, it is made up of tough canvas and leather handles/trim. What’s more, the handle straps are length-adjustable, as is the removable shoulder strap which just gives you another option of wearing the tote. On the inside expect a multitude of pockets and slots, good for all sorts of personals. And as the name suggests, it is indeed big enough to hold a weekend’s worth of clothes for that short beach getaway.

Besides Blue, it also comes in Black or White and retails for a mere SGD675, and in my opinion good for boys on a budget.

Coach Pierre Le-Tan Beach Canvas XL Tote

This just in! I’ve been keeping tabs on the upcoming Coach Pierre Le-Tan collection since the first post I did on it last month and today I’m happy to introduce my favourite piece from the collection, the Coach Pierre Le-Tan Beach Canvas XL Tote. Basically a huge-ass tote that you can pack your kitchen sink in (and then some), this canvas and natural leather tote is adorned with depictions familiar to all who head to the beach regularly, including a beach brolly, seashells, starfish and more.

The rope ties at each end are also a nice nautical inspired addition as well don’t you think? No exact release dates yet, but I do know it will tentatively retail for USD598 a pop.

Coach Pierre Le-Tan Collection

Known for his poetic illustrations and expressive use of colour, artist Pierre Le-Tan was tapped for an exclusive collaboration for Coach, resulting in a whimsical collection of luxe beach totes. Aptly juxtaposing his beach-themed sketches, the totes include depictions of cabanas, starfish and beach umbrellas. Due to be launched in early March in the US, prices for the Coach Pierre Le-Tan collection start at USD88 for a beach towel to SGD598 for an extra large cabana print tote. Other items in the collection include wedges, wristlets and scarves.

Just perfect for our all-year tropical weather don’t you think?

Valentine’s 2010 Womens Coach Collection

If you’re in Singapore and reading today’s edition of The Sunday Times, you would have spotted this on page 9. Yes folks, Coach took out a full-page full-colour advertisement today just to promote this: the Coach Poppy Metallic Glam Tote, the star attraction of their Valentine’s collection.

Measuring 42.5 cm by 31 cm, the inside is lined with fabric and comes with multiple pockets. The generous handle drop also means this will make a good shoulder tote, while the top zip closure ensures everything is secure at all times and more reassuring than other totes that just gape wide open.

Retailing for just SGD675, this metallic leather tote just screams love with hearts emblazoned all over. Loud? Indeed. Any louder and I’ll definitely go deaf. In love yes, but deaf…

Or check out this one I covered previously, all white with red hearts that retails for SGD609.

Another piece worth considering that’s even more adorable (read: subtle) in my opinion is the Coach Jewel Heart Coin Purse which comes in Magenta (shown above) and Lilac. Retailing for USD48 (or just above SGD100 plus in Singapore), it’s my pick for those on a tighter budget.

Coach New Op Art Leather Collection

I often get asked via email where one could get an affordable leather messenger that’s both stylish and flat. Yes. Flat. It seems men here don’t like being bulked up by bags that are too huge; especially near the ass. See ladies, you’re not alone when it comes looking too ‘big’. But I digress.

When I passed Coach Paragon recently I spotted this; the Coach New Op Art Leather Flat Crossbody Satchel, one of the key pieces from the Coach New Op Art Leather collection for men. Measuring 33 cm by 28 cm, this embossed cowhide leather messenger comes with all the usual bells and whistles (including interior pockets and adjustable shoulder strap). Most importantly, it only costs SGD675 which is already less than half of what the other brands will be charging for something similar.

If you require however something with more ‘character’, then check out the Coach New Op Art Leather Crossbody Satchel which retails for SGD899. I especially love the handle and the shoulder strap, both of which are adjustable and allow you to wear the satchel in many different ways.

But if you’re looking for a more formal work tote for your files and laptop, then check out the Coach New Op Art Leather Medium Business Tote that’s all grown-up and serious. Much bigger than the earlier pieces featured, it also costs slightly more. Still, for a tote this size it’s definitely worth the SGD1129 price tag.

And last but not least my personal favourite; the Coach New Op Art Leather Carryall which is even more gorgeous in real life (trust me, you’ve got to see it for yourself in person). The largest of the 4, it is large and roomy with a double flap opening on the top. Perfect for quick weekends away (for work or play), it is definitely big enough for 2 changes of clothes, toiletries and the like. I’m really tempted, especially since it costs only SGD1515; a bargain in my opinion.

Besides mens bags, the Coach New Op Art Leather collection also has card cases and billfolds from SGD199 and up, which are all currently available at Coach Paragon.

Coach Poppy Collection

Love it or hate it, the Coach Poppy collection will be making a comeback early next year. Though it is clearly geared towards the young (and the young-at-heart), I’ve seen women in their 30s and 40s toting them around town but more on that later.

New designs (due for release in Singapore around late January 2010) include a newly created cartoon character called Minty, a patent heart tote that’s just perfect for Valentine’s Day and a graffiti silkscreened fabric tote with large letter embroidery.

Perfect if you are still a student, all bright and cheery. But if you are middle-aged woman take my advice and just steer clear of them (Coach has many other age-appropriate collections after all). Or I’ll just regard you as delusional.

Update – Coach Jewel Leather Medium Skinny

Previously when I blogged about the Coach Jewel Leather Medium Skinny, I posted it in 2 different colours, Gold and Violet. Many of you wanted to see the one in Raspberry as well, and because I always aim to please, here it is. Already at least 2 of you have purchased one each (June got the one in Gold, while Veneta got hers in Raspberry), which is really great.
