Not lacking in class in any way (unlike someone we know), the tote measures 39 cm by 35 cm, generously ample for all manner of files and computing gear. Wear it one of two ways, either by way of the cutout handles, or with the additional straps that are also removable. Which makes it versatile, and fresh, and gives you creative options when it matters.

Other than the fact that is styled after a basic schoolboy satchel (note the front flap, the buckle detailing and the standard long shoulder strap), Hannah MacGibbon gave it her very own twist with clever use of contrasting leathers (tanned leather with black patent trim), along with swathes of beige linen for added detail. The end result? It looks updated and modern, in a style that every Chloé fangirl will deign to love.

Measuring 28 cm by 22 cm, the GBP875 (around SGD1475 or so) satchel is a good size for those looking for a handbag that’s just right for work or play.

With the colour camel being one of this season’s key trends, it’s certainly a step in the right direction. Just look at that gorgeous Chloé Marcie in exotic python.

And if you’re planning to get any pieces from the F/W10 collection (Marcie or the gorgeous coat, anyone?), you be pleased to know that you’ll also receive the Chloé ‘Shopping In The Rain’ Umbrella, a gift specially designed by Hannah MacGibbon. Available only in boutiques in China (Beijing and Shanghai), Hong Kong, Singapore (Chloé is located at Ngee Ann City opposite Marc by Marc Jacobs) and Taiwan, consider it a very timely gesture given the state of our mad, erratic weather lately.

The post also covers a particular ring from Goldheart I’m pretty enamoured with; a 3-piece set comprising a band each of yellow, white and rose gold set with brilliant round diamonds. And as versatile as the rings are, they will be able to complement a wardrobe that’s primarily nude or camel as well for a start (but I’m pretty sure you already knew that).

First up, Valentino’s softly sweet nude two-piece number from the Fall-Winter 2010 Valentino Womens collection. Designers Pier Paolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri brought back much of Valentino’s DNA in this collection, one that’s replete with gentle ruffles, swatches of lace and Valentino’s signature colour: red.

Next, Diane von Furstenberg’s one-piece blush-coloured outfit that resembles something out of a ballerina’s closet. I like.

And last but not least (and perhaps the most wearable outfit of the 3), Hannah MacGibbon’s take on the whole 70′s look that’s reminiscent of Charlie’s Angels complete with full lustrous hair.

And while we’re on the topic of gorgeous camel-coloured pieces for F/W10, how about this lovely pair of drawstring leather handbags, a classic shape that’s gradually making a comeback as well? Also from Chloé, I’d expect them to be high on many a woman’s wish list.

But back to the ring. As versatile and gorgeous as it is, it will only set you back by a mere SGD1030 for a set of 3, leaving you with lots left for other accessories like bags and shoes.

Here’s some eye candy from the upcoming Spring-Summer 2010 Womens Chloé collection, which gives me the same vibe as the new Celine collection. What’s the link you ask? Well, Hannah MacGibbon who now heads Chloé used to assist Phoebe Philo who now heads Celine.

And is it just me or are the British designers getting better and better? Both MacGibbon and Philo are British, as are Christopher Bailey (Burberry) and Stuart Vevers (Loewe). Not surprisingly, these 4 are also ranking high on my watch-list so you’ll definitely be reading more about them in 2010.

At Paragon I spotted some new pieces from the Spring-Summer 2010 Mens Prada collection, including the longer version of the duffle above (almost SGD4000) and an open tote with the same 3 stripes for around SGD3000. Nice, but since it wasn’t exactly what I was looking for I’ll be heading back in a week or two.

Next we headed to Ngee Ann City and I zoomed in on Chloé but sadly the one I was eyeing (the Chloé Hedda) had already sold out. The Birkin-esque Chloé Marlow (shown above) was still available and at only SGD1500 or so after discount, a good deal considering it’s full leather. I did catch sight of the Loewe Amazona Weekender in Denim which I’m still lusting over, but at over SGD3400 I still need to give it some thought.

It was busy as usual over at Louis Vuitton ION Orchard, and while I was there I saw new pieces that included Monogram Vernis Animaux Coin Purse Bunny (SGD775) that I’m hoping to get one day, as well as the bag charms (yes, they come in Bunny, Rooster, Squirrel and Bird as well at SGD540 each). The new Louis Vuitton Couture Key Holder wasn’t bad either, though at SGD355 a pop I did find them a tad pricey.

Over at Bally I checked out the Bally Busy-B collection, which is basically a collection that’s made up of coated PVC bags and SLGs that aspires to compete with other brands and their entry-level pieces (think Vuitton’s Monogram Canvas and Loewe’s Anagram). Take the Busy-B Satchel in Black for example (shown above) which retails for just SGD1009.

And if you need something to ‘roar’ with you into the Year of the Tiger, check out the Bally Busy-B Tiger collection, a special limited edition set of 3 bags that’s only released in Asia. The biggest of the 3 measures almost 45 cm across and retails for around SGD1600 or so.

But the single bag that left the deepest impression on me was the YSL Besace Flap in Metallic Gold that was on sale at only SGD1500 or so after discount. And while it was much too small for me, I would recommend it to anyone looking for a classy satchel. Also available in Metallic Silver, both bags employ dyed lambskin leather which is heated at high temperatures to ‘crack’ it. In a word? Lovely!

Sale season has officially started in Singapore and today I went around town checking out the best deals. It was tough navigating the ‘holy trinity’ of ION Orchard, Ngee Ann City and Paragon, given the hordes of shoppers out in full force. Still, I managed to uncover a few gems. Take Chloé for example, which had discounts on selected items from their Fall-Winter 2009 Womens Chloé collection.

I recalled seeing the Chloé Marlow (in large and medium) on sale, and honestly I never knew this model even existed till today. At first glance it did remind me of a Birkin, though the Marlow is much rounder in shape with longer drop handles.

The Chloé Paraty (one of my all-time favourites) was also on sale (up to 30% off), and I saw one in Ink Blue calf leather for just SGD1900 or so after discount.

But the single bag that left the deepest impression on me today was this; the Chloé Hedda. Another new design, the one I have my eye on now is the one in Nutmeg stamped ostrich calfskin (shown above), which retails for SGD2100 after a 30% discount. I know it does not look that impressive in the image, but for those looking for a longish portrait tote that fits comfortably over your shoulder that can work for both formal or casual looks, this is it.

Another model that has done very well is the Chloé Sally, a stylish boxy shoulder bag with a slinky chain and front flap. Available in 3 different sizes, no prizes for guessing the one I like the most. Here’s a hint, it’s Gold and it’s in karung skin.

Never did see this before, the Chloé Elsie is distinguished by its elaborate front clasp and luxurious materials used for its fabrication. Available on Net-A-Porter as well at USD1250 each, on the left we’ve got one in alligator-embossed lurex fabric, and on the right one in lamé embroidered brocade. Lush.

And finally, another new evening bag collection, the Chloé Mira. Festooned with crystals, it’s much too early to say if this is a yay or nay for me till I see it in person, though it looks pretty good as it is now. Check them all out for yourself at their online site, or make a trip down to their boutique at Ngee Ann City.

What caught my roving eye however was this rather unusual variation, the Chloé Exotic Sally in canvas (Jungle Book anyone?) with Ayers snake trim in Black. It’s not the most ‘classic’ looking of combinations, but hey I still loved it. Don’t ask me why, I just know I do. Don’t be put off by the small frame though, the 2 flaps inside share almost 13 cm in width, which is more than ample storage space for any night (or day) out. 

Just a note to those who might be keen, in Singapore it retails for SGD3660, and while Net-A-Porter does sell it at around SGD2855 or so, it is only available to those living within the EU due to its exotic trim.

First seen on the runway of the Spring-Summer 2009 Womens Chloé fashion show, it has since attained cult status with the celebrities. Sure it may look like something that Chanel already has at first glance, but still possesses enough distinct differences to stand on her own.

Measuring 37 cm by 27 cm, Net-A-Porter has the exact same one that Leighton Meester has, retailing for SGD2660 or so. Not bad at all, considering it’s all-leather and finished off with gold hardware, a perfect addition to the wardrobe of any woman aspiring to be elegant and ladylike.
