Here are my picks from some upcoming F/W10 collections.

From Burberry Prorsum, the versatile indigo wash denim shirt (USD275) that will look good under a trench coat, a bomber jacket and yes, a smart slim-cut blazer (shown above). Fortunately (or not), this particular shirt will not be available in Singapore. In other words, get it online instead.

Anything Dr. Denim. What’s not to love? Especially since now that they are available at both Very Wooooderland (ION Orchard) and TANGS Orchard.

I’m also a sucker for anything in a check/plaid/madras print. And at just SGD59, I really need to check out the upcoming F/W10 collection from adidas SLVR.

Besides clothes, I’m also a fragrance junkie. Favourites now include Chloé’s Capucine, Dior Higher and 2 Man by Comme des Garçons. And hopefully after tomorrow night, I won’t mind smelling like Clive Owen as well, the face for the newly launched Bulgari Man. Or smelling him, for that matter.

What can I say? I’m already obsessed, but thankfully Burberry UK does not ship directly to Singapore, which on hindsight is a blessing in disguise. I’ll just have to wait it out and see it for myself in person once it arrives. But for those of you in the European Union who are keen, the hobo retails for GBP1195.

But back to the messenger. First impressions? The bag is huge. Not just big, but really, really huge. Measuring 64 cm across at its widest point, you can literally put your entire wardrobe into it and still have space for your gym shoes, your laptop and an actual little lamb.

The front flap you see is also purely cosmetic, its interior only accessible by a zippered opening on the top. And it’s definitely not lightweight either, made up of soft lambskin (or is it calfskin) on the outside, shearling wool interior (so lush) and patent leather trim all over.

So how will it fare in my hands? Let’s wait a week and see how it goes. And no, the messenger won’t be available for sale in Singapore till early September at the least. Stay tuned for more updates.

I must admit that the one in Tan ain’t really bad either, a rich hue of golden brown that’s just right in my opinion.

This however, is still my true love for time being. I could go ahead and order it first (and get it in 6 to 8 weeks), or just wait and see what other bags the various brands will be showing off on the runways of Milan in the coming days.

Oh what should I do?

Besides being large and roomy, I love that gradation on the leather which was achieved using vegetable oils which also gives it a deep and rich finish. I’m also a sucker for bags that can be carried more than one way and this gorgeous tote certainly fits the bill. Wear it over the shoulder with the shorter top handle, or across the body with the long shoulder strap.

Love.

And if Sage (or Tan) is not your thing, they also have it in Black.

Another bag that’s more cute than anything else in my books is the Burberry Canvas Explorer Crossbody (like a messenger of sorts). Styled like something you would bring on a safari (and hence the theme of the season Protect, Explore, Inspire) it retails for GBP595.

And even though they are not commonplace in Singapore I have seen ladies in wellies whenever there’s a morning downpour. Available in 4 different colour trims including Red (shown above), Purple, Yellow and Green they retail for SGD380 a pair. Other items in the collection include a tote bag in 2 sizes (SGD1125 and SGD975), wallets (SGD725 and SGD340 depending on the size) and a coin purse for SGD275.

Part of the Burberry Brit collection, April Showers is a new capsule collection that includes items that come with brightly-coloured edging with iconic checks for both men and women. And yes, the full collection is now available at ION Orchard for viewing and purchase.

Other awards up for grabs include Menswear Designer Of The Year, Womenswear Designer of The Year and Accessory Designer of the Year, and I’m hoping nominees Tom Ford, Alexander Wang and Proenza Schouler (Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough) win in these respective categories.

Why? Tom Ford (along with Ryan Reynolds) looked smashing at the recent Oscars dressed in Tom Ford.

Alexander Wang may have already won many awards over the years, but since he is up against Marc Jacobs and Donna Karan this year I’ve decided to root for the ‘underdog’ instead. Plus the fact that his bags are more interesting doesn’t hurt either.

Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough for Proenza Schouler which has delivered icon after icon season after season including the PS1, the PS11, that gorgeous portfolio which I still can’t find for sale online (shown above), and those quirky evening bags. Need I say more?

The star-studded list included Kate Hudson, Kristen Stewart, Claire Danes and Mary-Kate Olsen. My favourite of the night? Kate Hudson hands down, who turned up in a gorgeous short number from Burberry Prorsum. The colour just looks great on her don’t you think?

Next, we’ve got Kristen Stewart who seriously has to stop emoing like she’s still on the set of Twilight. Or New Moon. Girl, you’re dressed in Burberry Prorsum. Can smile please? Then again, it could be just she was just really upset in her outfit which in my opinion is just too sheer on the top and too shiny at the bottom.

Claire Danes. Somehow something went really wrong and I would like to leave you with this quote from Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada.

‘I asked for clean, athletic, smiling. She sent me dirty, tired and paunchy‘.

Nuff said.
