The Epi Electric family has also grown, and now includes Noir Electric, Prune Electric and Amande Electric.

First launched in 1985, Epi was originally created and developed to due to the need for having a leather that was durable, yet beautiful to be made into bags for modern day use. Dyed all the way through with a special grained texture that resists light scratches and knicks, the leather is made such that it retains its beautiful colour over time.

Not convinced? Just do a quick search on eBay and you’ll find many beautiful, still pristine pieces, especially from Japanese resellers as the Epi line was huge in Japan back in the late 80s and early 90s.

And if you’re looking to get yourself something in the new Epi colours, you can check out bags like the Alma (which now comes in 13 colours), or something more affordable like the Zippy Wallet (SGD1060) or the Card Holder (SGD280, shown above).

Classic hues making a comeback for S/S12 include Beige, Navy and Chocolate, which are safe entry-level colours for those considering to get themselves a Le Pliage for the very first time. Rounding up the list are Black, White, Taupe, Red and Graphite for a total of 12 as far as the S/S12 colour palette is concerned.

If I had to pick one colour each from the new and the classic hues, it would have to be Khaki and Navy. What are your personal favourites?

Before we proceed, however, I’ll also need to insert a quick disclaimer. The colours shown here are by no means true to life; they are instead a guide to what you can expect from Balenciaga as far as what is going to be launched.

There are a total of 13 hues in the S/S12 line-up, 3 of which are Noir, Anthracite and Blanc Light that are not featured above, which I’ll simply leave to your imagination. From left to right we’ve got Cris Ciment, Gris Poivre, Rose Bruyere, Rose Blush, Coqueucot (not to be confused with last season’s Coquelicot), Vert Poker, Gylcine, Bleu Indigo, Bleu Cobalt and last but not least, Dark Night (not to be confused with The Dark Knight).

As usual, you should be able to find the new S/S12 offerings at Balenciaga at Hilton Shopping Gallery, otherwise just head online and let Google do the searching. Their secret weapon? Bringing in shirtless greeters (a A&F trademark if you must know) from their A&F stores around the world, including France, Italy, Japan, Spain and of course, USA and having them welcome shoppers as they make their way into the labyrinth of darkened corridors, loud club music and sales assistants looking as if they’re out clubbing on a Saturday night.

Which was the experience I had when I visited A&F stores in London and Tokyo, complete with same darkened corridors, loud club music and sales assistants looking as if they’re out clubbing on a Saturday night. Didn’t buy a single piece of apparel in the end, but boy was it fun.
