Alfred Dunhill London Single Document Satchel

If my recent posts on Alfred Dunhill have proven anything, it is while the company is steeped in tradition and history, there’s another side to it that’s no less current and modern. Take the Alfred Dunhill London Single Document Satchel for instance, a handsome leather briefcase that will be a better fit for a strapping young man, as opposed to his elderly father whom everyone still thinks the brand is best suited for.

Made in England by skilled craftsmen, the 38 cm by 32 cm tanned cowhide leather briefcase is finished off with brushed palladium hardware. And that’s not all. I read somewhere that when you buy the satchel, it will come with the craftsman’s name card on the inside, and if you ever need any repairs, the same craftsman will be responsible for it. Which is really neat, right?

Priced at GBP760 (under SGD1500 after conversion), it comes in Tan as well as Bordeaux (shown above), which in my opinion is modern, sleek and even a tad bit sporty. You can even get it online if you like, where they do ship internationally.

Spring-Summer 2012 Dr. Martens Ad Campaign

The second instalment of Dr. Martens’ #FIRSTANDFORVER ad campaign sees the return of Agyness Deyn and Ash Stymest celebrating their love story, a tale of stolen moments and youthful amour. Set in an English seaside town, it is also the perfect background for the new season shoes, from the Chalky boots and shoes to unusual pieces like brogues that are part leather, part fish skin.

Have a look at the accompanying video, and see how many new shoes you can spot for yourself.

In other related news, the first drop of S/S12 shoes (the Chalky collection) is now available at Dr Martens stores at Wheelock Place and Orchard Central. And if you’re heading to the Laneway Festival that’s happening on 12 February 2012, don’t forget to check out the cool shuttle bus that will be picking up festival goers from 12 noon to 8pm.

Spring-Summer 2012 Womens Prada Ad Campaign

Set in a chrome-filed petrol station/car garage from the 50s is the Spring-Summer 2012 Womens Prada ad campaign, Miuccia Prada’s ode to the mid-century when bright colourful prints were the order of the day, shiny patent handbags adorned every arm and shoes inspired by the tailfins of Cadillacs ruled the streets.

Exuberant and glossy, Prada takes it a notch higher by releasing the ad campaign video that features a bevy of beautiful women, gorgeous RTW, bags and accessories and a killer mish-mash soundtrack that’s very Prada. Have a look (and a listen) and you’ll know what I mean.

And in case anyone’s wondering, the glossy leather bag featured in the ad campaign above is now available in Singapore and retails for SGD4930 a pop.

Spring-Summer 2012 Womens Miu Miu Ad Campaign

Shot by David Sims and featuring Australian actress Mia Wasikowska, the Spring-Summer 2012 Womens Miu Miu ad campaign is a vibrant juxtaposition of prints and textures, presented in a way that only Miuccia Prada could.

From oversized flowing capes to chunky cameo jewellery, the star(s) of the ad campaign as far as this blog is concerned are the gorgeous vintage-inspired evening bags that come with beautifully-formed handles, set atop bags made of fabrics and skins in a variety of colours and prints.

The mid-century shapes are unapologetically ladylike but the bold colour blocking keeps these bags from being too precious. Without a doubt, these are made for all the modern women with a Stepford Wife hidden somewhere in them.

Mulberry Travel Day Bag

With the new season almost upon us, here’s a quick look at the new Mulberry Travel Day Bag, which is 60% similar to all the other bags currently being offered at Mulberry. On one hand, I lament the fact that Mulberry keeps rehashing existing icons like the Alexa, while on the other, I’m happy since those who didn’t like the previous interpretations may be won over by this one. I know, I’m schizo like that.

Looking almost like the aforementioned Alexa, the only big difference as far as the exterior is concerned is the addition of a lot more hardware in the form of the plaque in front, along with all those embellishments on both sides of the bag.

Another big change is the addition of the 3rd strap that you can see in the middle of the bag, and if it is functional, it simply means you can now leave the other straps unbuckled while you’re out and about. Which is a good thing since those extra straps can be a hassle when you’re trying to retrieve something while on the go.

Besides the regular versions, there will also be an Oversized Travel Day Bag, in a variety of colours and finishes. And now we wait, to find out when they will be released for sale, and how much.

Spring-Summer 2012 Womens Chanel Ad Campaign

There’s no denying how breathtakingly gorgeous the way the entire Spring-Summer 2012 Womens Chanel ad campaign is set up, an extension of the season’s underwater theme, now brought to another level altogether with models Saskia de Brauw and Joan Smalls getting all sporty by the sea.

Styled by the woman who has the Midas touch (that would be Carine Roitfeld), the campaign (lensed by Karl Lagerfeld) is a visual feast, made even more stunning when it’s presented in black and white.

And yes, that’s how you should always rock your Chanel bag whenever you’re on the pommel horse, ladies. You should also check out the campaign on Facebook, where you’ll be better able to spot the new season Boy, which comes with a thicker (and sportier) shoulder strap.

Spring-Summer 2012 Burberry Ad Campaign: January

It’s that time of year again when designer brands start releasing their new season ad campaigns and today we’ve got the January instalment of the Spring-Summer 2012 Burberry ad campaign, featuring models Eddie Redmayne and Cara Delevingne and shot by Mario Testino.

And while the January’s ad is pretty straightforward (shot against a white background with Eddie holding a mug, of all things), it does allow the fabulously detailed RTW and accessories to stand out, from Cara’s weaved sleeve trench to Eddie’s coat with a woolly collar.

The clutch Cara is holding is particularly alluring, and even though it isn’t launched yet, you can check out some pre-Spring pieces available online at Burberry, including the Burberry Prorsum Woven Zig Zag Clutch which retails for SGD1895.

As for myself, I’m waiting for these shoes to launch, as it has become a personal mission to buy at least one pair per season (already bought my F/W11 pair which is on sale at Matches Fashion, by the way), and only from Burberry Prorsum or Prada. Don’t ask me why though, I just do.

Spring-Summer 2012 Womens Louis Vuitton Ad Campaign

If Louis Vuitton’s F/W11 ads were all about the naughty, then their upcoming S/S12 ad campaign is definitely all nice. As in sugar, spice and everything nice. Set in a beautifully pink ice-cream parlour complete with sundaes and milk shakes, it’s the perfect foil to the collection made up of romantic dresses and ladylike shifts, detailed with white lace collars, strass, 3D flowers and studs.

Shot by Steven Meisel with up-and-coming models Daria Strokous and Kati Nescher, might I just add that the bags in the runway collection are adorably irresistible as well? From beautifully embroidered translucent variations of the Lockit that are more style than substance (not that anyone would mind, really), to patent leather market bags and drool-worthy handbags in delectable exotics, this is one collection that I’ll be blogging more about in the coming months.

Fall-Winter 2011 Burberry Ad Campaign: October

For the month of October Burberry chose to feature its Burberry Prorsum Metallic Check Crossbody, a smallish sling that measures 26 cm by 15 cm. While the one in the October instalment of the ad campaign is part-metallic check, part-exotic croc, you can always go for the regular version in leather which retails for SGD2195.

I do like the fact that it is compact yet stylish, one of those bags you can rely on to carry your essentials while out partying with the girls. Especially important is the fact that you can ‘lock’ it to make it more secure, useful when the last thing you want to worry about are prying hands.

And if you’re thinking why it looks familiar, that could be due to the fact that you’ve seen the Burberry Prorsum Ribbed Quilting Crossbody before on the blog, also from the F/W11 collection that’s no less lush. In full leather and available in a wide variety of colour combinations, this variation retails for SGD2295.

H&M + Versace Collection

Here’s a quick look at the ad campaign images from the H&M + Versace collection, which will be released worldwide come 17 November 2011.

With barely a month left to go, it is now time to decide on your must-have pieces from the line-up, which includes most everything from short metallic dresses to bomber jackets, bags, shoes, scarves and even pillows and bed spreads for the home.

Pieces in the collection start from SGD59.90 for the mens tee all the way to SGD449 for the leather dress that Anna Della Russo wore during Paris Fashion Week recently, which also happens to be the single most expensive item in the entire collaboration collection.
