Céline Made In Tote

The time has come for Phoebe Philo’s very last collection to arrive (slowly, but surely) in stores. Instead of feeling a tinge of sadness for what will no longer be, let’s instead focus on honouring the designer’s work, her legacy that she accrued over the past 10 years as Creative Director of the Parisian house.

Clean lines. Minimalistic appeal with just the right bit of edge. Quality materials that withstand the test of time. These are all clear characteristics in her work for Céline, and all pretty much surmised in an all-new bag that is the Made In Tote. Its shape? A roomy trapezoidal (another favourite in Phoebe’s choice of bag silhouettes) figure coming in a predominantly textile body and finished with ‘origami pleats’ on the corners. Available in 3 sizes, Small (30 cm by 25 cm), Medium (35 cm by 34 cm) and Large (48 cm by 38 cm), each tote will come with a pocket pouch within that can be removed and used on its own. And while the Small can only be hand carried like a cute handbag, the Medium and Large can be carried over the shoulder thanks to a longer handle.

The tote is named as such, because of the bold text that appears on the front of the bag. With Céline Paris on one side, and ‘Made in Italy’ on the other, the Made In Tote is truly one of its kind, riding on the success and popularity of the label’s text-heavy S/S18 favourite, the Plastic Shopper.

There are only 2 colour combinations to look out for, a Natural/Red which comes with an off-white body and leather trims, with bold red words and White/Black which is essentially an all-white body with black leather trims and words. Price-wise, the tote starts at SGD1650 for the Small, SGD1900 for the Medium and SGD2200 for the Large, which also makes it a definite want as far as her swansong collection is concerned.
