Miu Miu: #MiuLady Pop-Up Singapore

For those who happened to be at Kuala Lumpur’s Pavilion in September or passed by Hong Kong’s Harbour City last, you would have noticed the Miu Miu’s #MiuLady pop-up that prominently features giant versions of Miu Miu’s beloved bag. Come 2 November 2017 in Singapore, this larger-than-life installation will land on our shores over at ION Orchard, specially designed to give you a deeper insight on why this bag is such a special one to begin with.

The first thing you’ll notice when you lay your eyes on the bag will be the giant jewelled buckle. And if it looks familiar, it is because it first appeared on the Dahlia before it was transformed into a whole new bag line known as Miu Lady. Extremely popular since it was first launched, it is one that’s a study of contrasts between the glamorous and playful. The hard and the soft. The dazzling and the matte.

While the Miu Lady Crossbody (22.5 cm by 14 cm) comes in exotics, plaids and even rattan, it is the one in Madras goat leather that is the star of the collection. Soft to the touch yet extremely hardy, it is another contrast that’s now synonymous with the Miu Lady. And because of this pop-up, it is also your chance to see all the colours available at a single place, something which has never happened before due to their scarcity.

And if you love bling, know that the buckle alone has some 254 crystals, each individually set on the clasp that’s then fixed onto the bag that’s made up of 60 different parts. Each taking up to 4 hours to craft by skilled artisans, you can dress up with it, or be totally casual for weekends out.

Priced from SGD2910 and up, the pop-up exhibition will run till 11 November 2017 at the main atrium, right in front of Miu Miu’s boutique in ION Orchard. And if you want a personal tour of the new bags as well as the beautifully revamped store that’s now awash in that perfect shade of baby blue, I’ll be on hand on Friday (7 pm to 9pm) and Saturday (11am to 3pm) to be your docent/guide/personal shopper. There will be Miu Miu cookies and a set of special stickers, so do drop by if you’re in the area on either day.
