Love it or not, Louis Vuitton is back with a second collection in collaboration with Jeff Koons. Known simply as Masters Collection Chapter 2, consider it an extension of the first one, with 6 new masters and their works added into the mix. So what can you expect? There’s Reclining Girl by Francois Boucher, Delightful Land by Paul Gauguin, Luncheon on the Grass by Edouard Manet, Water Lilies by Claude Monet and Ancient Rome by J.m.W. Turner. The sixth, The Triumph of Pan by Nicolas Poussin is exclusive to Maison Louis Vuitton Vendome in Paris.

Besides the new masters, new bag styles have also been added into the collection (think Pochette Métis and NéoNoé) alongside house classics like the Speedy, Neverfull and the Keepall. It is also a varied collection in terms of colour compared to the first drop, which just means more options for those who are already fans. Juxtaposed with Jeff Koons’ own iconic artworks (think Balloon Dog and Rabbit), it is a study of contrasts both old and new.

With this collaboration, Louis Vuitton has proven once again that as far as working with artists is concerned, they are definitely ahead of the curve, with past collaborations created by Stephen Sprouse, Takashi Murakami and Yayoi Kusama still fetching good prices on the secondary markets. Will this be the same, say 10 years from now? Only time will tell.
