Gucci x Unskilled Worker Capsule Collection

Gucci loves pushing the boundaries by working with numerous artists that have a contemporary edge with a unique story to tell. Come 11 October 2017, Gucci will unveil a capsule collection with Unskilled Worker, the artist behind it known as Helen Downie, who’s famed for her interesting take on large-eye portraits and delicate coloured paintings. Helen’s works possess a ‘naïve and expressive style’ with a witty and spirited edge that is in sync with Gucci’s Creative Director Alessandro Michele.

Another interesting fact to note is that this isn’t the first time Gucci is working with Unskilled Worker, as their collaboration dates back to 2015, when Alessandro Michele invited her to participate in an art exhibition at Minsheng Art Museum in Shanghai. For this collaboration it extends even further, into a 40-piece capsule collection that includes a good range of accessories, bags, RTW, shoes and silks, all featuring artwork by Unskilled Worker.

Now that all the good bits have been revealed about this exclusive collaboration, here’s the not-so-good news. The pieces will only be available online from 11 October 2017 at Gucci and will not be available in our local retail boutiques. This means that only Australia, Canada, China, Europe, Japan, South Korea, UAE and United States will get in on the collection online, so it’s about time to ring up that long lost pal who migrated to Australia in 1999 and get him/her to shop on your behalf and send it over to Singapore.
