Saint Laurent Fall 2017 Tuxedo Box Bag

No stranger to this blog, the Tuxedo Box Bag makes its comeback for Fall 2017 with all new colours and textures, plus patchwork details that definitely jazz up its otherwise simple, straightforward boxy shell.

Each bag’s patchwork detail differs from the next, so it all boils down to which of the trio catches your eye, each with its exotic skin design and pattern. For starters, there’s the lizard skin Tuxedo Box Bag that essentially features a patchwork of vintage cars in predominantly red, black and grey, that’s also embellished with round metal studs. With the hardware in oxidised nickel working perfectly against its edgy print, it is well-suited for the cool Saint Laurent girl that carries it.

The other equally snazzy print comes in a snakeskin (python, to be specific) body that’s mixed with colours like beige, black, blue and green all juxtaposed beautifully into an animal abstract; there’s a panther and what looks like a snake on the front. Last but not least, there’s one in matte black that features a star patchwork print with a mix of croc and leather that’s no less alluring.

With a 53 cm drop sling strap on the 20 cm by 17 cm box clutch, they will retail for SGD5580 each in Singapore. A pretty penny no doubt, but when you factor in all the exotic skins carefully cut and assembled by hand onto each bag, and the fact that they are definitely more collector’s pieces than just casual bags, you’ll understand why it costs this much.
