Chanel S/S17 Gabrielle

With today’s announcement that Chanel ambassadors Kristen Stewart, Caroline de Maigret and Pharrell Williams (along with friend of the House, Cara Delevingne) have been picked by Karl Lagerfeld to be the faces (and star in the ad campaigns) of Chanel’s bag-of-the-season, it’s time for your quick first look at the bag in question, the Gabrielle.

A new offering from the Spring-Summer 2017 collection, the bag is an ode to founder Gabrielle Chanel, with the two distinct styles from this line. The first one (shown above) is messenger style, with a rigid base that’s then topped with ultra-supple leather, for a unique piece that’s both hard and soft. Hard at the bottom so your personals stay in place (and are easy to find), soft towards the top so that it can be hugged snugly against your body.

Then there are the many ways you can wear it, the strap made up of two slings that allow you to wear it over the shoulder, across the body or both, which is the way the model is wearing it in the image above. There’s also a smaller dumpling like style of the Gabrielle that looks like a reinterpreted drawstring duffle but with a rounded bottom that’s also pretty cute.

And while that is all well and good, I’m personally liking this style more (for now, anyway), what with its simple details, clean lines and the whole let’s just grab-and-go vibe about it, which is great for both work or play. With the proper ad campaign to be released only sometime in April 2017, know that I’ll be back with more updates, including sizes, the kinds of leathers it will be made available in and of course, how much they will retail for in Singapore. In other words, stay tuned!
