Louis Vuitton: 5 Things You Should Know About Les Parfums

Here’s a quick ‘whiff’ of what you should know (and can expect) from Louis Vuitton’s Les Parfums collection that will be available in Singapore come 15 September 2016. Anticipation is high, especially with all the teasing that started months ago. And because I haven’t had the chance to inhale (because it’s a much nicer word than smell, right?) any of the scents, I’ll be keeping this post factual so that come launch date, all of you will be armed with everything else you need to know about this collection. Except how it smells, of course.

Without further ado, here are 5 things you need to know about this collection.

#1 – Contrary to popular belief, this isn’t Louis Vuitton’s first-ever fragrance. Officially, this would be the 4th, with earlier scents launched in 1927, 1928 and 1946. And because LV doesn’t do anything by halves, there won’t be one or three scents; the grand total stands at 7.

#2 – Whilst many other luxury houses work with fragrance companies to create their scents, Louis Vuitton has their very own dedicated ‘nose’, celebrated perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud.

#3 – Described as ‘feminine’ in the press release, all 7 scents have flowers as the main note, from Grasse’s famed centifolia roses to sambac jasmine from China. There are also tuberoses, white narcissus and Tahitensis vanilla in other scents. Some are also infused with leather (the Dans La Peau) for what I’m hoping might make it suitable for us boys as well.

#4 – Prices start from SGD370 for a 100 ml bottle to SGD540 for the 200 ml size. You could also opt for all 7 miniatures that will come priced at SGD370. Not exactly affordable by most standards, but Monsieur Belletrud insists on the purest, rarest and hence priciest ingredients in the fragrance market for Les Parfums. In other words, you should head down on 15 September 2016 to either LV Marina Bay Sands or Ngee Ann City and let your nose decide if they are worth every scent cent.

#5 – Last but by no means least, that trunk. Yes, that drool-worthy, heart-moving, specially-customised trunk. Made to house 3 of your favourite scents, that drawer you see on the bottom of the trunk is (and I think) where you’ll be resting your credit card because this beauty of a box will set you back by SGD7450.
