Yes, Mother’s Day is almost upon us, and for everyone’s who ready, #highfive.

For everyone else, good luck and start reading this post. It’s going to be a long one, but at least I can safely say you’ll have enough options to mull over before deciding which would be the best gift for Mummy Dearest.

And because it’s going to be a long post (ok, the truth is I’m still finalising all the gift options), here’s the first one, For the Mum Who Adores Anything Cute. Which I’ll then follow up in the coming days with For The Mum Who Wants A Tiny Number (Bag), For The Mum Who Needs A Workhorse WalletFor The Mum Who Likes Her Bling and of course, For The Mum Who Already Has Everything Else.

Without further ado, here’s today’s post. Enjoy.
For the Mum Who Adores Anything Cute
Yes, Mummy might not be young anymore, but she’s young at heart and you know, has a good sense of humour too. And because which mother doesn’t love tea or remember the days when Wrigley’s chewing gum was freely available in Singapore, the first two picks are both clutches, the first from Kate Spade New York, their new Down The Rabbit Hole English Tea Clutch (SGD570, buy online via Kate Spade) that’s mostly metallic PVC with 14K gold-plated hardware. And then there’s Anya Hindmarch’s Wrigley’s Spearmint Gum clutch that’s now 60% off over at THEOUTNET. Was USD1595, now USD638, which also makes it a good deal, no?

Yes, this is still gift ideas for the Mum who loves anything cute, and nothing can be cuter than Fendi’s bug-eyed wallet. Measuring 19 cm by 12 cm, it’s basically a wallet-on-chain with enough card slots, zip compartment, patch pockets and a long metal chain that’s actually the sling (USD1102, buy online via Net-A-Porter). Then there’s the Powerpuff Girls iPhone cases by Moschino. Yes, I know, too cute, right? Still, it’s guaranteed to bring a smile to most anyone’s face, and beside the one in Blue you see above, Moschino Paragon also has the ones in Green, in both iPhone6 and iPhone6Plus sizes. And at SGD90 each, you really can’t complain.

And for something really affordable, the cutest post-its I’ve ever seen, the EUR14 a box Paperways sticky notes that you can get from Colette. If you’re really getting the cheap post-its, make sure you get a nice card too, like this one from The Paper Bunny which costs just SGD5.90.

For The Mum Who Loves Her Bling
As promised, here’s part two of the 5-part post. And no, you won’t go broke trying to please Mum either. From the small and the classic to the large and the modern, here are 5 icons from the world of fine jewellery that even the fussiest of mothers will love.

Choose from Cartier’s Juste en Clou pink gold beauty (SGD5500, view more online via Cartier) to these lovely new Infinity rings from Tiffany & Co. in 18K rose or yellow gold (SGD3600 each), all of which come with a nice tiny sprinkling of brilliant diamonds for that added bling. Then there’s the Perlée rings from Van Cleef & Arpels (another favourite of mine, by the way) that are true classics in their own right, which can be worn singly or stacked, and depending on your budget, you could easier get her one or a pair (SGD1850 each).

For mums who prefer chunkier pieces with a little more heft, there’s Bulgari’s new B.zero1 ‘Perfect Mistake’ 3-gold ring, a stunner that retails for SGD4010. Last, but by no means least, for the mother who loves everything Chanel, how about the new Coco Crush rings that come in Beige Gold? Available in 2 different widths, these start from SGD3080 apiece, with its signature look being all about the quilting you see on the rings.

For The Mum Who Wants A Tiny Number
Mum might not be a young lass anymore, but it doesn’t mean she needs to own a bag that literally matches her age. Besides, I’m pretty sure she will already have loads of bags that are, well, more suited for an older woman, so why not get her opposite of what she’d usually get and give her a surprise she won’t forget? And if it is one of these above, you could even loan it from her for days when she’s not using it. In other words, #winwin.

First up, the Nano Lady Dior (SGD3300) that comes in a variety of sweet hues, including the ones in Blue and Pink that you see above. Then there’s the Halzan Mini from Hermès that’s small but really versatile, allowing one to use it at least 4 different ways, from hand-held top handle to clutch to a shoulder sling. Priced at GBP2660, it’s also pretty entry-level as far as the price is concerned, which makes it a deal too, IMHO.

Next we have an Epi Nano Noe (SGD1700) in the seasonal hue of Acid Yellow, Purple and Sky for a bag that’s not only an icon given new life, it’s pretty darn cute too. Another icon, or rather, an icon-in-the-making is the Small Trotteur from Celine, the SGD2400 rounded sling bag that comes in the loveliest of grained leathers. And of course, there’s the avant-garde Mini Pandora that now comes with a chain sling instead, definitely for the one who likes thinking out of the box and standing out from the crowd.

For The Mum Who Needs A Workhorse Wallet
I realise this post is becoming increasingly long (yes Alvin, don’t be so ambitious next time) so I’ll keep this update short and sweet. I don’t know about your Mum but mine likes her wallets big and long (ok, that came out wrong, but you know what I mean). The word ‘compact’ doesn’t exist in her vocabulary because as far as she is concerned, she will need every last credit card, VIP discount card, discount coupons and enough cash to stock up on a couple of gold bars every time she heads out.

And because mothers generally like their wallets from a well-established luxury brand, brightly-hued (or in a safe dark hue) with a logo or two that’s definitely easily recognisable, my picks are of course the ones that she won’t lose face on should a busybody relative take a peek into her bag.

The usual suspects are as follows: Chanel, Dior, Gucci, Hermès (pricier yes, but if you can afford it, why not?) and Saint Laurent (shown above). And of course there’s Bottega Veneta, Louis Vuitton and Valentino, just to make sure you have all the bases covered. The idea is simply this. If you’re going to spend that much on a wallet for her, make sure it’s big, it’s branded and it’s bright. Easy, no?

More updates to come. #goodthingsmustshare #happyshopping
