Chanel Soft Leather 2.55 Collection

You should already be aware of Chanel’s new bag, a third one after the Boy and the Girl in recent years and simply called the Drawstring. If you’re an ardent reader of this blog, you would already have read the post that went up last week.

Besides the fact that it is going to be a completely new style for the French luxury house, the Drawstring also features what Chanel calls ‘ultra-soft leather’, so hard to come by (and therefore precious), it’s cut only from a certain portion of the entire skin, presumably the part where it’s the softest and also has the fewest imperfections for that almost flawless finish.

Given a light hand whilst treating the leather, it also promises to patina beautifully over time, which is something I would expect for a more naturally-hued leather, and it also promises to be smooth, as it is touted to be ‘as soft as peach skin’, which would be so enjoyably tactile in my opinion.

Which brings us to the purpose of today’s post. Yes, that’s the 2.55 we all know and love, and come June 2016 you’ll be able to buy it in Singapore (and the rest of the world, of course) in soft leather as well. Gone is the signature quilting which we are familiar with on both Caviar and lambskin variations; this one is completely clean, and you could say, almost vintage-looking.

Available in at least 2 sizes and 4 colours (Black/Burgundy/Camel/Navy) for the first launch come June 2016 (or end-May if we’re really lucky), there should be another post on its exact sizes and prices in SGD. And as far as I can tell so far, only the one in Camel (shown above) comes with the 2 hanging charms; the rest are without, which works too.

So sit tight, drool and start saving. More updates will come, I promise. #goodthingsmustshare
