Bagaholicboy Muses #472 – Turn That Frown Upside Down

With more and more brands jumping onto the smiley bandwagon, tis truly the season to be happy. While I’m pretty sure Anya Hindmarch restarted the craze what with her smiling bags, SLGs and stickers, you might not know that American graphic artist Harvey Ross Ball first created it back in 1963 for, you’ll never guess this, an insurance company for the simple purpose of boosting the morale amongst its employees.

Now that you know, it’s back to the post at hand and more smiling faces. From Fendi’s fluffy fur ball that actually looks a tad evil (SGD730 via MATCHESFASHION) to Joshua Sanders’ leather slip-ons featuring felted happy smiles on a variety of colourful leather slips (you’ll find them at either Club21b or On Pedder). Then there are the Les Petits Joueurs’ Grace Boss and Grace Smile perspex clutches adorned with faces made out of Lego, with the one in shades clearly the boss (EUR490 via Les Petits Joueurs).

Rounding up the selection above, we’ve got those adorable embossed leather stickers (GBP45 each) from Anya Hindmarch (also check out the bags and SLGs which all come with smiley faces of their own), cutesy GBP8 smiley earrings via Dolls Kill, and of course, Marc by Marc Jacobs’ own take called the #Unsmiley, a huge range of sad (or is it frowning?) RTW, bags and SLGs that you’ll now find in Singapore via their boutiques at ION Orchard and Mandarin Gallery.

Get one or get all, and stare at it whenever you’re having a bad day. Because if you smile, the world smiles with you. #nomoresadface
