Step into any Tod’s boutique offering this customisation service now and you’ll be presented with a kit that contains leather swatches in different colours, examples of ‘Scooby Doo’ laces (that’s the corded leather detailing you see on the front of the shoe) and examples of hot-stamp styles that you can opt for further personalisation by way of including your initials, which all in all gives you up to 100,000 combinations, almost guaranteeing that no two pairs created from this process will be alike.

Made with the same care and workmanship as regular Gommino loafers, complete with all 133 rubber pebbles (or gommini) on the sole, each shoe requires up to 35 pieces of leather and 100 steps to put together, which also equates to about a month’s wait from the submission of your order. Along with shipping to its final destination, that will add another 15 to 30 days, which ultimately isn’t so bad if you plan ahead, especially since it would make such a unique gift.
