With all the fun wackiness that’s been pouring out of Anya Hindmarch lately (remember S/S13’s Pomp And Pleasure, or F/W13’s Cascade?), you’ll do a double-take (as I did) when you spot the Anya Hindmarch Albion Top Handle from the F/W13 collection that’s now available in Singapore.
Gone are the thick handcrafted leather tassels or the crazy illustrations; the Albion could easily be described as Anya’s alter ego, the quietly elegant side of her that’s serious at work and wants a bag that does just that: look good, function well and most importantly, it’s one that’s crafted to last.
Measuring 34 cm by 24 cm by 18 cm (that’s a great depth for the laptop and those work files, by the way), the bag is crafted with capra leather (essentially goat if you must know) which is hardier than say, calfskin. And by employing a new technology that fuses leather together, it’s a bag that’s clean without the need for additional stitches.
Crafted in Italy, the Albion Top Handle’s most distinguishing feature is its money clip clasp lock, which you see located in the middle of the bag while on the inside you’ll find in classic Hindmarch style, all manner of organisational opportunities for all your personal bits and bobs, from a lipstick holder to a dedicated pocket just for your mobile. You’ll also find a smattering of zippered compartments and patch pockets, as well as a 3-card holder and wait for it, a detachable key fob.
Priced at SGD3280 for the Albion Top Handle in capra leather (you could spend a little more and get the one in exotic python), the Albion also comes in the form of a handy clutch and a comfortable hobo, all of which can be viewed now at the Anya Hindmarch boutique within Takashimaya Department Store.
