Last season, I was smitten with homegrown designer Raoul’s Jean Saddle, a little darling of a sling bag that was all mod and retro. This season I’ve got my eye firmly on two bags from Raoul’s Pre-Fall 2012 collection, Shalom Mini and the Bridget Saddle, and here’s why.
First up, the Raoul Shalom Mini, the smallest of the family of new bags and obviously also the little darling. Measuring a wee 15.5 cm across by 11.5 cm, the pebbled leather sling comes with its own adjustable cross body strap, an internal slip pocket and a fully lined interior.
Its most distinctive feature, however, has got to be its exposed clasp that you’ll have to manually lift in order to gain access to the bag, which honestly is pretty unique with that equestrian vibe.
Now on to the Raoul Bridget Saddle, which also happens to be the biggest in the family. A large shoulder bag (measuring 31 cm across by 21 cm), this is the one you can use for work. A more formal rendition of the Shalom Mini, it has the same exposed clasp and pebbled leather finish, the only difference being that you can of course put more into this bag.
Besides the two colours shown above, they also come in Navy and Red, and are priced at GBP204 and GBP237.50 for the Shalom Mini and the Bridget Saddle respectively, which really isn’t so bad either. Check it out online at My-Wardrobe, or at Raoul boutiques islandwide in Singapore.
