With all the recent buzz online regarding the upcoming collaboration between H&M and Maison Martin Margiela that’s due out on 15 November 2012, I thought it would be apt to chime in with my five cents’ worth.
Having culled some of my favourite pieces from Far Fetch, which stocks a wide variety of of mens (and womens) designer apparel from boutiques located across Europe, here’s a quick look at not what it would be, but what it could be.
Given the French house’s penchant for all things white, avant-garde and a little kooky, the H&M + Maison Martin Margiela collection will probably be full of apparel/bags/shoes in shades of white/cream (think Niles in Frasier: Tofu, Putty, Oatmeal, Almond, Harvest Wheat, Buff), a bit of deconstruction maybe plus a couple more things distressed and looking all worn/used.
There would also probably be jewellery/accessories in weird and wonderful combinations, some resembling things you find in your tool box like nuts and bolts, others an amalgamation of barbed wire or twisted sculptural shapes. And given how the label has dabbled in home furnishings, there could be a small home collection as well, which may include egg-shaped door knobs amongst other things.
Or it could look completely different. Because if there’s one thing we know about MMM, it’s that most anything goes. And if you could dictate the collaboration, what would you wish to see (and buy) from this collection?
