It’s always a joy going through press kits from Dior since it never fails to remind me of Christmas. Time and time again I’ve been treated to visions of grace and elegance in the form of beautiful baubles, stunning heels and ladylike bags, and this time, with the Pre-Fall 2012 Womens Dior collection, it’s no different.
Here’s a sampling of what to expect as far as the bags and accessories are concerned, a beautiful juxtaposition of colours, prints and textures in the form of quilted leather, tweed and lace. Like Christmas, no?
It’s much too early to decide how I feel about this Pre-Fall 2012 rendition of the Lady Dior, covered in what looks like bovine-patterned fur topped off with handles in exotic croc, since I haven’t seen it in person, but I can say this. At least the French house isn’t trying to be safe and tries to push the envelope which is always admirable.
Before I sign off, here’s another treat. Directed by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, this 3-minute video showcases the best of the Pre-Fall 2012 collection, set in the grounds of the Château de Versailles. Deserted and dreamlike, alongside Depeche Mode’s Enjoy The Silence which is the video’s soundtrack. Which is surreal yet befitting, all at once.
