Having lounged by the hotel pool earlier today, I did what I do best and started to people-watch whilst trying to get some rays. Naturally, I started checking out the women and trying to see what kind of bag they would use if they were by the pool. Most were carrying huge (and might I add, ugly) oversized totes that were filled to the brim.
One took a good 5 minutes to rummage through hers before she finally located her sunnies. Another was spotted using a designer paper bag, which I can only assume was used to contain her expensive purchase just the day before.
Two more had plastic bags (yes, the supermarket variety no less), while the third was using a beat-up Speedy, which was probably the result of accompanying her mistress to the pool so often.
If I had it my way, every woman there would be issued the Emilio Pucci Cosmetic Bag, which is great for for bits and bobs like sunnies, cash and cards. Besides looking incredibly summery with its bright and colourful swirling print, the fact that it is made of PVC means you’ll never have to worry about sunblock stains; you’ll just need to wipe it down and it will be as good as new. Everything else, like sunblock and a change of clothes should just go into a small Baggu.
Measuring 19 cm by 14 cm, it also comes with a chain strap which means it can also double up as a sling bag. The only thing I’ll actually change about it is perhaps the name. I’ll call it the Beach Purse, or Pool Sling, because it is really more than just a cosmetic bag.
Check it out at the Emilio Pucci boutique that’s located on Level 2 of Takashimaya Department Store. And if anyone else has more suggestions for a great bag to use by the pool/beach, please feel free to leave a comment or two.
