Hermès Kelly In Rose Gold And Diamonds

This is reportedly the most expensive Hermès handbag ever made to date, set to retail for 1.5 million euros. One of 4 designs available, with 3 of each design to be made, it is technically not a handbag since it holds nothing more than a pair of sunglasses.

Designed by accessories designer Pierre Hardy, it took two years to produce the intricate creation which includes a Kelly (shown above), made of rose gold and crafted with a crocodile scale effect. Studded with 1160 diamonds, the owner would wear it on the wrist like a piece of jewellery, and perhaps carry nothing more than a tiny smart phone and a tube of lip gloss on the inside.

One would argue that if it is technically a handbag, the price would seem astronomical, even mad. But since it is to be regarded as a piece of fine jewellery, the price tag does not seem too exorbitant after all. Or does it?
