It’s hard to get excited or impressed these days as far as bags are concerned, since most designer brands choose to reinterpret their best-selling mainstays in order to keep their sales up. Occasionally, however, there are those who choose to walk on the wild side and come up with designs that may perhaps may not sell a truckload or please the masses, but for those in the know, they are a breath of fresh air.
Take the Proenza Schouler Tiki Clutch for example, from their S/S12 collection, it also holds the honour of being the only bag to be featured in their current season’s advertising campaign.
Made mainly of weaved raffia, the clutch is beautifully shaped, with an elaborate shoulder chain that’s easy on the eyes. What’s more alluring are the intricate details, from the belt-clasp opening to the trimmed leather edging that’s no less attractive.
Expected to retail for USD1500 a pop, it’s a bag that’s bizarre, and beautiful, all at once.
