Tom Ford Carine
Whilst doing my rounds today at Colette, I came across the latest issue of I-D Magazine that featured Carine Roitfeld on the cover, wearing a God Save The Queen tee and holding the Tom Ford Carine, the F/W11 shoulder bag that’s obviously paying homage to the woman on the cover.
The best way to describe the Carine is to first think of the Classic Flap, sans quilting. Next, remove the iconic clasp and replace it with a giant pair of shackles, then imagine the shoulder strap that’s covered in half with a hand-stitched leather overlay. And you’ve got the Carine, a sleeker, more updated variation of the traditional shoulder bag.
Retailing for EUR1920 online at Colette for the ones in plain nappa leather, I also managed to check out the bags for myself in person and the Carine is truly a magnificent piece, one that meshes Tom’s superb creativity and Carine’s stylish vibe perfectly.
