Valentino Jacquard And Leather iPad Case

August 15, 2011   |   7 Comments

One of the strangest pieces to come out of Valentino yet, the Valentino Jacquard And Leather iPad Case had me in a tizzy the moment I set my eyes on it. When one thinks Valentino, one imagines gorgeous red gowns, rosette embellishments, small discrete studs and delicate lace embroidery.

Never in a million years would you expect to see something like this. All jacquard (in some sort of monogram pattern), trimmed with leather along the exterior, with another portion of it in yellow leather and a pair of stitched leather arms. It’s not subtle, it’s not elegant and it most definitely shouldn’t be from Valentino. But it is.

And as helter-skelter as it looks, it ain’t even that affordable, retailing for GBP285 over at Net-A-Porter. I wouldn’t. Would you?

    It. Is. Not. Nice.

Eh?? How baffling. I would never have picked this as a Valentino. When I think Valentino, I think exquisite and detailed and precious. That… thing… isn’t any of those things.

    So ugly…

Yeah ,this is definitely not right! Why are they so slow in launching the iPad cover, seems that many luxury brands are able to keep up with the launch of electronic gadgets. By the time they launch something, either the market are already filled with knock offs or the newer version of the gadgets is releasing soon, like the iPhone 5.

    No, still not loving it.

I’m not a fan either, but the jacquard ‘V’ fabric has been a standard in the Valentino line for ages, originally introduced as far back as 1968. It was then reintroduced in the accessories line in 2006 and has been put out in various items (especially travel bags and totes) since then.

SO, really the only new thing is the yellow/pink color combo and that it is an Ipad case. Valentino’s new designers are playing with new colors and designs to get away from EXACTLY the stereotype red image of Valentino. Prices are also less than they used to be; overall, Valentino is looking for a new, younger client and pushing hard to stay relevant to him/her.
