Louis Vuitton Monogram Canvas Sologne

August 14, 2011   |   7 Comments

Whilst deep in research for my next inSing piece that’s due out this week, I chanced about the Louis Vuitton Monogram Canvas Sologne, a bag which I never knew existed at Louis Vuitton till today. Yes, we’ve all read about her bigger sister the Saumur (and how she has been reinterpreted for the Cruise 2012 collection), but how the Sologne missed my radar completely all this while, I’ll never know.

Made almost entirely of Louis Vuitton’s signature Monogram Canvas (in short, a coated canvas that’s both lightweight and sturdy), the rectangular-shaped Sologne measures 28 cm by 19 cm, a decent enough size for those looking for a bag that’s suitable for weekend jaunts around town.

What’s even more alluring about it is the fact that it comes trimmed around the edges with Vachetta leather that ages beautifully if you take all the proper steps, turning from a pale ale brown to a dark golden hue. Finished off with gold-tone hardware, it is as functional as it is beautiful, with enough interior pockets for all your bits and pieces.

Now for the best bit. While is it generally acknowledged that bags from Louis Vuitton are getting pricier, it is comforting to know that the Monogram Canvas Sologne is still priced rather affordably, selling for SGD1490 a pop. Available at Louis Vuitton stores island wide, have a look before they are all sold out, or before any round of price increments kicks in.
