Fall-Winter 2011 Womens Fendi
Overwrought and dated were the first words that came to mind when I chanced upon images of the Fall-Winter 2011 Womens Fendi collection online, which isn’t entirely a bad thing if you love the good old days when handbags were ornate and ladylike, an added bonus if you’re a fan of the Mad Men.
Take the Fendi Striped Silvana Satchel (top left) for example. Beautifully laser-cut leather with vintage, almost art-deco motifs with the sides in canvas that you can hand carry or sling over the shoulder. Without a doubt, its elegance personified. I’m not sure how much it costs in Singapore, but pre-order it online at Saks and expect to pay around SGD2900 for it.
The clutches from the runway collection are no less ornate, each piece having 2 or 3 different types of exotic leathers on the front and sides, embellished with polished crystal stones and finished off with gold-tone hardware. No word yet on the prices of these pieces but expect to pay a pretty penny for them.
Before I sign off, if anyone out there was eyeing the rectangular felt totes with gorgeous striped lining, get them in Green or Red at SGD770 or so each. Online, at Saks. And yes, they do ship internationally.
