Dior Libertine Collection

October 10, 2010   |   8 Comments

Having first made her debut on the runways of the Fall-Winter 2010 Womens Dior show, the Dior Libertine collection is a a symphony of draped soft buttery leather and skilled construction. Equestrian-themed, waves of buttery soft leather are painstakingly pleated into a clean and sophisticated hobo for the modern woman.

Besides being spotted on the shoulders of celebrities like Eva Mendes, it also made its way into Dior’s F/W10 ad campaign (shot by Steven Miesel), which features John Galliano’s muse of the moment, model Karlie Kloss, looking fierce with her Libertine hobo.

Available in 2 sizes, the ones in buttery soft leather will retail for SGD3300 (32 cm by 29 cm) and SGD3800 (37 cm by 34 cm) respectively, and besides coming in Petal Pink and Chestnut (shown above), other colours in the Libertine’s repertoire include Black and Teck (which I assume is dark brown).

I dare say the side view is even more stunning than the front. Look closely and you’ll notice long buckle straps coming down the sides (inspired by the bridle and saddle of the horses), and the design of the C.D. metal logo that’s worked into the hardware of the shoulder strap is borrowed from a belt created by Christian Dior himself in 1950. Look out for them at Dior boutiques island wide, including ION Orchard, Ngee Ann City and the new store at Marina Bay Sands.
