Spring-Summer 2011 Womens Mulberry Press Presentation

September 21, 2010   |   12 Comments

It ended as quickly as it started. On Friday I flew to London to catch the Spring-Summer 2011 Womens Mulberry press presentation which was held at Claridge’s, one of London’s grand old luxury hotels. This was followed by a screening of Tim Walker’s The Lost Explorer at BAFTA in the evening and a gala dinner at night, but more on that later.

There were 2 press presentations held on Sunday, and of course I had to attend both. Everything goes by so fast, so seeing it twice definitely helps. In the first show I was seated in the front row, and if you check out the online video you will be able to spot me. For the second presentation I opted to stand with the photographers in the pit, and with my trusty Lumix GF1, snapped away merrily as the models came down the runway.

Some of my favourite bags included the Mulberry Alexa Camera Bag (shown above), which I previously thought was the Mulberry Mini Alexa. The Mini Alexa is really a miniaturised version of the Alexa, not as exciting, but definitely cute. The Alexa Camera Bag, on the other hand, will be a big big hit.

Another one of my personal faves was also miniaturised, the Bayswater that’s hardly bigger than an A4 sheet of paper but oh so cute! For S/S11 it will also come with its own removable shoulder strap, a great add-on to an already iconic classic.

I know many of you are unsure of the new Mulberry Tillie, but trust me, this has ’it’ bag written all over it. It is truly stunning in real life, and Emma Hill can vouch for me when I say I refused to let go of the sample that came down the runway in snake print. You know how some things are just naturally not photogenic but look really good in real life? The Tillie is a perfect example of that.

There will be other updates coming up really soon, including how I physically stalked Gemma Arterton thinking she was Olivia Palermo, stood 5 feet away from Anna Wintour (the woman is truly magnificent in real life), was in the same car as Helena Bonham Carter (I nearly died) and sat one placemat away from Alexa Chung (she actually remembered meeting me in Singapore and we exchanged a few words) at the gala dinner.
