Everyone knows that I’ve been exclusive to Rimowa for a while now, and whenever I needed to travel anywhere (most recently there was London for Mulberry, and Taipei for Loewe) I would definitely use my set from the Rimowa Classic Flight collection. Besides being able to hold lots, it never fails to attract admiring glances from fellow travellers at the airport. It was my holy grail of luggage from Rimowa, till the new Rimowa Vintage Case collection came along, that is.
Set to be released in December 2010, the Vintage Case collection is limited to only 1950 pieces in 6 different sizes, the number of pieces made an ode to the year it first came out in. Detailing-wise, it is very different from Classic Flight collection. Besides having an additional locking clasp under the handle, the handle itself is made out of a single block of aluminium, and for those like me who are a stickler for such details it is an added bonus.
And that’s not all. The interior comes lined in moiré blue, which is exactly the same shade used then when the first case rolled out in 1950. In Singapore, you can make your reservation at their store at Mandarin Gallery. I know I am.
