Loewe Ala Tote Collection
It ain’t a Neverfull. And it isn’t the Saint Louis either. Presenting the new Loewe Ala Tote which makes its debut in Singapore this week. Having seen them for myself in Taipei recently, I can attest to the tote’s soft supple body, due entirely to the fact that it is crafted out of napa leather.
Available in delicious colours including Fig, Peacock Blue and Paprika (Black and Gold will also be available locally in the coming weeks), each tote is about the same size as a Neverfull MM and priced at SGD1490 each.
And with designer bag prices getting higher and higher these days, it is heartening to still be able to find quality leather pieces that are well-made, elegant and won’t you cost you an arm, a leg and your left kidney. Check them out at Loewe Ngee Ann City and Isetan Orchard.

Gold is a matte soft metallic, very subtle and elegant.

I love their napa leather, simply so soft to touch. The price is affordable too.

How could you! Between this and Celine, which is your pick?
Honestly it just boils down to the size and what you’re looking for. Celine has a horizontal leather tote as well, but it is much bigger (comparable to the Neverfull GM), whereas the Loewe Ala Tote is smaller like the Neverfull MM.
Question is if it is nappa leather what kind of weight can it take?
Definitely not as much as the coated-canvas ones, but than again, this tote was not made to be a daily workhorse.
I love bags made of nappa leather, so soft and buttery, and they are in such sweet colors!
I won’t compare them with Neverfull and St. Louis though. Both are quite durable, and quite practical ‘throw-around’ totes. Nappa leather is too delicate.
True, though my point in this post is that compared to coated-canvas totes, here’s a good full leather alternative for about the same price. And at the end of the day, it is up to the reader to see which they prefer.
I prefer Celine’s horizontal leather tote cos the strap’s slightly shorter than this. Loewe’s straps are a tad long which makes hand-carrying a little less elegant than Celine’s. Hope I made sense!

Oh my, I am salivating now…Loewe uses the best lambskin second to Hermes, extremely soft and delicate. I lemming for its iconic Amazona and this Ala bag now!
i saw, feel, touch and try to carry this bag when i was at the botique at venetian macau last week.. OMG! so soft and light. Until now i can’t get it out of my head.

Yes they do. End-of-season sales, just like everyone else. Though I don’t think the Ala will go on sale yet since it isn’t exactly a seasonal item.
