Rimowa Classic Flight Collection
I’ve always loved to travel, seeing the world in a truly different way and experiencing environs not usually found in your own country. When I was younger (and in my late teens) it would always be Singapore – Kuala Lumpur – Singapore, scrunched up in express night buses that plied the same route up and down the North-South Expressway. As I got older, I started venturing out even more, first to Bintan (it was quite a happening place back then), then on to Bangkok, Hong Kong and Macau.
Last year was huge for me and somehow I managed to cover London and Paris in two and a half weeks, along with a runway show, lots of sightseeing and still managed to shop till I dropped. This year has been rather quiet as far as travel plans are concerned, but with my upcoming press trip to Taipei, things are certainly looking up. Other stops on the cards for the year also include Paris (yes, Paris again) and Tokyo but I’ll cover these in another post later on.
Which brings us back to the now.
Ever since I caught sight of Yed’s Rimowa Classic Flight Trolley in early January it has been on my mind, and I knew I had to get myself one. Constructed from aluminium, it’s extremely lightweight and will take all incoming nicks, dents and scratches like a man (which will just add on to its character). I also adored its retro design that harks back to the days of early aviation. No fancy plastic hard cases for me, please. I’m old-school.
And as of yesterday, I became a proud owner of my own set! I won’t bore you with the minute details on how I ended up getting sponsored with 2 pieces from the Rimowa Classic Flight collection for my own personal use, but yes they’re officially mine. More excitingly, I have joined the ranks of the German football team and fashion icon Hidetoshi Nakata who also rely on Rimowa whenever they travel.
So which are the 2 pieces I received courtesy of the great folks at Rimowa? Since I only wanted items from the Classic Flight collection, I decided on the CF Cabin Trolley (SGD853) and the CF Jumbo Trolley in Medium (SGD979). I could take my cabin trolley up the plane, and check in the other piece.
Besides the sleek, cool exterior, I also fell for how it looked on the inside. Lined with fabric printed with repetitions of twin-propeller planes, it’s the perfect nod to retro-cool. And when I’m not using them while travelling, I intend to keep the smaller one within the larger piece (yes it fits in perfectly), lay it flat on my bedroom floor and use it as a side table to hold magazines and a lamp. Now how’s that for a great home décor tip?
In Singapore, Rimowa is available at Mandarin Gallery (#02-19), Millenia Walk (#01-68), Takashimaya Departmental Store and Isetan Scotts, with a fifth location opening in The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands really, really soon.

Thanks Yed! I still got to thank you for introducing this brand to me in the first place! Love!
My pleasure. Is Rimowa not giving me a special token for introducing it to you? Hahaha.
Love the CF Cabin Trolley – Quick question. Which would you recommend I get? the Tumi Alpha or the Rimowa CF as a carry-on? Like both, but the former’s probably more practical
Rimowa is the BEST OF THE BEST and for the BEST OF THE BEST!
I own one Classic Flight collection and one Attache laptop case… and always get treated differently at airports, hotels…. everyone wonders what your carrying in these cases!
I ended up buying an extra attache case on one of my trips since you don’t have them in India (more of an impulsive buy I guess)… so if anyone is really interested in it, I can let go of it…
Can you kindly where I can find Rimowa Flight collection bags in Paris. Can you send your Answer URGENTLY. Thanks.
Demanding much? LOL! Try Le Bon Marché in Paris.
