Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF1
I finally did it.
After months of deliberation I decided to go ahead and get the camera I’ve wanted for a long time. Sure, there’s nothing wrong with my Pentax K-7 which accompanied me to Europe last year, but I was always on the lookout for something sleeker and more convenient to carry around.
So after going back and forth for the 89th time, I decided to take the plunge and got myself a spanking new Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF1 last night. And even though I preferred the one in White, I settled for Black in the end as I did want to look more ‘professional’. That and the fact that the one in White was already sold out at the shop I purchased it from.
And besides the 20 mm ‘pancake’ lens (GF1C), I also topped up a little more for the 14-45 mm standard lens kit, which also meant I got a free tripod, three 8 gb SD cards and an original half case as well.
It’s definitely not going to be make me a better photographer any day soon, but it will make me a much happier blogger for a long time to come.

Did you take a look at sony’s NEX tiny cameras with interchangeable lens and APC-S sensors?
Honestly there are too many options out there to consider! I just decided to go with my first love instead…

I am also considering this. My forum buddy took great honeymoon photos with her GF1. I need a new camera that can take good firework shots, night scenes and in low light conditions.
My Cybershot is sleek and compact but performance is just so so.
These are mini dslr’s? I’m intrigued! Black is hot, but love the idea of one in white. I adore my D90, but it’s hella weighty and the thought of having dslr quality shots from something near the size of a compact is certainly appealing, great for nights out and perhaps wandering the city when you don’t want that tourist look!

I have a Panasonic LX-3. Good choice for something more compact than DSLR yet can produce pics as good as DSLR, you’ll have no regrets!
I had a hands-on session with the Sony NEX and it was truly love at first touch… seemed easier to use than the GF-1, but still congrats on the purchase!
Great camera. I recently bought it with both the 20mm pancake and 14-45mm and I’m very please with it. Takes a little while to learn the many functions but worth it. Too bad LV doesn’t make a case for it. I also have the K7 but it’s too heavy for casual shooting. I hope you enjoy your GF1. Luv your blog.

If I recall correctly, I paid SGD1400 for the body, the pancake lens and the 14 – 45 lens. Promotion then.
