Bagaholicboy Muses #201 – A Case For My MacBook Pro
Now that I finally purchased by very own Apple MacBook Pro 13″ yesterday, what’s next?
Why, a spanking new case for it of course.
And seeing how I will be using the MacBook when I’m out and about in town or when I’m travelling overseas, I’m also looking for a case that’s lightweight, easy to use and fashionable, of course.
I haven’t done all that much research yet, but a few favourites have surfaced. Take for example the Incase AnOther + Colette Sleeve that’s designed by Gareth Pugh. Retailing for just USD79.95 (now that’s really affordable), this limited edition 13″ sleeve features a quilted cushioned interior and durable form-fitting construction.
Another option by Incase would be this: the Incase Neoprene Sleeve Plus (USD39.95) that comes in a wide variety of colours including Purple (shown above). And now for the good news, Incase does ship internationally as well. Just drop them an email with your order and they’ll get back to you with the shipping charges before the transaction is confirmed.
Another option that’s really cute is the one from Marc by Marc Jacobs. Available now for purchase at stores in Mandarin Gallery and Ngee Ann City, they come in dual sizes along with 2 different designs. And if I recall correctly, the larger of the 2 retails at just SGD150 each.
Mulberry actually launched a sub-collection last year focusing on cases and bags for Apple products, and one that I liked (and still do actually) is the Mulberry Bayswater Sleeve 13″ in Blue. Retailing for GBP350 online, it is also the only piece so far in this line-up to be made of leather. I’m not very sure if you can get it locally though you can always order it online instead.
And last but not least we’ve got Louis Vuitton. Ever since my last update way back in May 2009 they have launched new variations, including another in Damier Graphite (shown above) and Damier Geant. Available in 2 sizes (13″ and 15″) at SGD1000 and SGD1070 respectively, all 3 (including Monogram Canvas and Damier Ebene are currently available at ION Orchard). What I like about them is the fact that they come with a protective foam-lined interior that’s embossed with LV’s insignia, which is a nice touch. The one in Damier Geant also comes in 2 sizes but is a little bit more expensive at SGD1040 and SGD1110 respectively.
Now folks, here’s my big question for you. Which one should I get?

I think you should go with the Damier Graphite, I also have a macbook and you have to be careful with cases that can truly protect from denting! LV made a great version thats fashionable and functional! Best of luck on your final pick!…. P.s. find out if Goyard makes any! Im dying to know!
Yes BB please find out whether Goyard has. Love their stuff!
I vote for the Marc or Mulberry ones!
hihi, i just bought the same lappie too! i got the free new crystal casing instead. but I love the LV one very much.
I’d go with Marc by Marc Jacobs (adorable!) or Louis Vuitton (gorgeous and very sophisticated).
Oh please. I would rather buy a 50 dollar one that is simple, yet functional. It’s only a laptop case, so stop being a spendthrift and invest what you can save into another bag or donate it into charity.
Dear Jessica, thanks for your comments!
Your concern for charity is admirable.
Do drop me an email (the one you left here doesn’t work) so that I can add you to the mailing list for the designer flea/swop ‘Purses for Pussies’ that I’m initiating in aid of the Cat Welfare Society.
What a great name for the event!
LOL! Of course, considering the fact that the name came from you!
i personally like the mulberry ones. or u can take a look at gucci…
they have some laptops cases and i think the one in guccisima leather is nice.
I found this case which looks very durable, the Pelican 1080

Thanks for the link dude! It looks like a briefcase though, not exactly what I’m looking for.
I like the Marc by Marc Jacobs case but I think you would go for the LV one!
Mulberry! Is really rare to see it in SG.
here’s a cheaper, 100% leather, alternative!

Louis Vuitton Damier Graphite. More professional looking.
I’d go for the Mulberry one! When you’re not using it for your macbook (i use a really cheapo daiso one which probably has zilch protection), you can use it as a mlutch!
Okay i think i just convinced myself to go get one!
i go for the MMJ one. getting it soon. pretty n i love colours in my life! mk it more exciting.
I have the Damier Graphite and I love it! Everytime I got a lot of: “oh, that´s very beautiful”.
And besides the protection feature, I use it as a kind of briefcase and go to the meetings only with it and nothing more.
But I also have another one from Longchamp and other one from Ferragamo.
Have you seen the ones by Pat Says Now? Some really interesting designs and slightly cheaper than MBMJ

Marc i can get off quite easily if u want.
Mulberry
What about knomo case or the leather laptop case from House of Holland?
Marc Jacobs or Louis Vuitton
*grins* OF COURSE THE LV ONE! matchy-matchy with your iphone case, no?
Congrats Alvin, Welcome to the Mac club. I’ve been using it for years and I can tell u you will love it! Get the Damier Graphite. More pro.
Get the Damier Graphite! Beautiful and functional
Incase or LV both do the job! Of cos the LV one is more aesthetically appealing… but since it will be tucked away in your luggage or hotel room, go for Incase!
The Mulberry one seems like it will get in the way. And the leather I can imagine will be quite heavy!
Oh my gosh! I may just have bumped into you yesterday at the PC show! I’m also the proud owner of a 13 inch MacBook Pro and was just thinking about the carrier. I think I’m going to get the Marc by Marc Jacobs one!
BB, I think you still have the hots for the Mulberry one. It’s nice yes but I think it’s more practical to get one that can cushion the shock since you will be bringing it overseas…
I found this other website… The cases look so cool, especially the vintage one.

The Damier Graphite is so you. Just get it already!
The affordable yet well designed case is the Incase. But life is short right? Get the Damier Graphite, it is stunning and sophisticated.
-Proenza.
i’ll go for the damier graphite!! my favourite! yo!
Just get the incase ones, the mulberry doesn’t look like it functions very well to protect your laptop, the MBMJ one is too kiddish for a guy and the LV one is too expensive. The laptop may not last you as long as the case lasts you and you may end up using it for 2 years or so only. And unless you get another Mac 13″, you won’t be reusing the laptop case.
The marc jacobs is too small, you computer won’t fit..I bought the bigger marc jacobs with the blonde girl, and it was tooo big, so I exchanged it for the smaller one like the pic above and its too small the zipper can’t close and it fits soo tight….
would go for Mulberry with no regrets.
I’m with Jessica Tan on this – get a cheap and good laptop case. I don’t really see the point of spending so much on a case, when I could have just gotten a MBP with much better specs for the extra cash.
I’d suggest a local product, Fabrix Cases.
http://www.fabrixcases.com/sg/collection/laptop/
The cases are handmade and you may customise it to add leather handles or a pocket etc (for extra charges of course). I’d suggest getting leather handles because that way, it’s easier to carry your laptop, rather than hugging it.
It’s custom made for different sizes so it fits well and you can get a matching one for your iPhone too!
Yo babe, get Victoria Secret pink laptop case with charms at RW Sentosa…so you…rarrrr xoxo
LOL! No no no!
Oh did you get my email about the proposal?
the priority should be shock protection, not fashion; no point getting a snazzy case that doesn’t do much in terms of protection. i got a basic black one lined with a memory foam that absorbs shock.
after you get this, maybe you can think of getting a slightly bigger fashionable case.
I second Fabrix ! Personally using the Black Suit laptop case. Never fails to get me compliments!

Saw this shop at Wheelock selling brands like Jack Spade, Knomo and even Fabrix!
Waiting for paydayyyyy.
Hey … Brynmore for Macbook Pro 15.4″ is in at the Mulberry Boutiques. It also have 15.4″ in the Drew sleeve. The Daria & Bayswater Sleeves are also in for 13″ Macbooks …
