Fall-Winter 2010 Womens Gucci

May 19, 2010

You’ve already seen pieces from the Fall-Winter 2010 Mens Gucci collection that I adore, now check out what Frida has in store for the ladies next season. Purists will be pleased to note that Gucci’s archives from the 60s to the 90s were referenced for this collection, which is always good given our general fascination (and great love) with all things from the past.

Evoking nostalgic feelings within me (though I was technically just a 5-year-old in the 70s), I do love the Boston with Gucci’s signature dual-colour webbing.

For something even more subtle (sans logo), this Boston in suede (I think) is a dream. Trimmed with camel-coloured leather, it’s dignified and elegant. Camel (the colour not the animal) is also going to be big for F/W10, so keep this in mind when planning your wardrobe.

Another favourite of mine is this pair of Gucci New Bamboo satchels. The shape, the tassels, the shoulder strap, love, love, love. In serious contention to make it to my top 10 iconic bags for 2011, it is definitely a piece every woman should consider adding to their personal collection.

At first glance this reminded me of the Paris-Bombay from Hermès (note pointy ends on both sides), but soon that notion disappeared. In exotic ostrich, the bag will probably weigh a ton, especially with the additional flap in front and the huge stylised GG logo.

And last but not least, a tote that I think will probably get the boys more excited, in Gucci’s classic Diamante Canvas which goes back as far as the 1930s. And if my research is correct, it was back in style again in the 50s and now at present after Frida again discovered the print in the archives.
