Bagaholicboy Muses #192 – I Miss Paris!
I know at least 5 people (bloggers and readers included) who are heading to Paris in the next few weeks and some have asked me for a rough guide on what to do/see/eat/buy in the city. Now while I’m no expert myself (having only been to Paris once and that was just last September), I am going to list down a couple of key highlights.
And going through the snapshots we took certainly brought back many memories. Take Tuileries Garden for example (which is near the Louvre Museum by the way). More breathtaking and scenic than the Eiffel Tower in my opinion, as we sat on deck chairs surrounding the pond, watching the ducks and just taking everything in. It was calm, relaxing and totally blissful.
From here you can actually walk (and I mean walk) all the way to Champs-Élysées, but somehow it was just all too touristy for me.
And speaking of the Eiffel Tower, here’s the obligatory snapshot. Loved it from a distance, just not up close.
Spent quite a bit of time at the Louvre Museum.
With so much to see, I do wish we had spent more time at the museum. Biggest regret though was not being to make it inside the Orsay Museum (Musée d’Orsay). The queue was horrific the morning we arrived, so we decided to just skip it and head on to our next destination down the list.
Another huge phallic symbol, sited in the middle of Place Vendôme. If I recall correctly, the tower was made up of bronze plates that was melted from 133 canons after a particular war. Erected by Napoleon in 1806, it was modelled after Trajan’s Column in Rome.
Another must-see (for me anyway) was the Basilique du Sacré-Coeur over at Montmartre. Sure it is a little bit out of the way, and you have to actually climb up the hill to get to the top, but it’s definitely worth it. Just be very mindful of your surroundings, if you know what I mean.
Had to check out the Notre-Dame as well and it was definitely worth the effort.
Can’t remember what is this called exactly, or what purpose it actually serves but it sure is beautiful…
Someone’s city apartment. No, I’m not kidding. And yes, I’m missing Paris really badly now…

Mark (Freshmess) and I are planning to go first weekend of October. Are you coming with us?
A quick jaunt to Paris sounds lovely right about now. Montmartre is my favorite.
That building you can’t recall is the iglesia de la magdalena.. It’s a church on the inside! And it’s really beautifull on the outside!
Also go to Laduree or to one of the other macaron makers… Good tip if you have a lot of money: Go to the Tour Montparnasse.. There is a restaurant on the top of that.. You can see all over Paris and watch the Eiffel tower when it lights up!
Can intro any good plcs to shop? brand exclusive in Paris?
That post will come soon…
I love that long walk from the Louvre to Champs-Élysées.
I intend to head there next year!

It is up! Not exactly complete, but it will do for now…
the second last photo is Pantheon, it looks like the Pantheon in Greek. It’s not a church, but rather a mausoleum of all the famous people, and the pendulum experiment.
The second last photo is not the Pantheon but the Madeleine Church (Madeleine metro station), which is next to Faubourg St-Honoré street.
I just came backk! It’s so was serene! love it!
Marais is quite nice to shop too …
Dun forget the Collette!
