Bottega Veneta Embroidered Knot Collection

April 5, 2010   |   10 Comments

I’ve read scathing reviews online about the Bottega Veneta Embroidered Knot collection, a S/S10 offering that’s a reinterpretation of the famous Knot. And while it is extremely easy to write a bad review (trust me, I’ve done my fair share of those), it is actually harder trying to convince another when you’re not even convinced yourself.

Which was the case after I read those scathing reviews. So I took my time with this one, going down to the Bottega Veneta boutique to take a look at it whenever I was in the area. While it might look like a total mess at first sight, I realised it must not have been easy embroidering leather at random, creating crazy lines all over the place but still ensuring everything tapers beautifully at the edges. Retailing for SGD1820 each, the clutches measure 18 cm by 11 cm and come in 4 colour combinations; Canevas Fever, Canevas Orchid, Canevas Gladiola (from top to bottom) and Ivory Yolk (not shown).

And while I can appreciate its beauty, I’m pretty sure it won’t be a runaway success. Not that it matters since the society ladies would just lap it up anyway and add it to their existing Knot collections. Check them all out at Bottega Veneta boutiques at Paragon and Takashimaya Department Store in Singapore, or go online. Net-A-Porter is selling the one in Canevas Orchid for around SGD1512 or so after conversion.
