Celebs And Bags #52 – Kate Moss For Longchamp Ladbrooke & Anne Hathaway

March 24, 2010   |   7 Comments

The more I look at it, the more I don’t like what I see. No, I’m not referring to actress Anne Hathaway, though you must admit she was totally weird and slightly unnerving as the White Queen in the recent Tim Burton movie Alice In Wonderland, which (for me anyway) was a total letdown.

What I am referring to specifically is the Kate Moss For Longchamp Ladbrooke that was spotted on the shoulder of Ms Hathaway recently. Truthfully the bag’s not ugly in any way. In fact, it is a rather simple yet stylish hobo that’s available in leather or a more limited zebra-print variation. What I’m not understanding here is the fact that because it is so simple, why do they have to cost SGD2032 each? Keeping in mind that Longchamp is not considered a luxury brand by any standards, shouldn’t the retail prices be slightly lower to attract the brand’s target customer?

Or is Longchamp just paying Ms Moss too much for royalities?

I totally agree! It seems to me, any item that has ‘kate moss’ on it (i.e. Kate Moss for Topshop) is wayyy overpriced considering the quality and ‘uniqueness’ of the design. I haven’t seen this KM for Longchamp bag IRL, but my heart isn’t palpitating. Sorry.

    I’ll rather get a Balenciaga!

I must admit it’s plain looking… a simple bag for a hefty price!

  • Yasmin says:

Cole Haan has something similar (can’t recall the name though…) but more rugged!

  • Jean says:

I can’t imagine paying that kind of money for a Longchamp bag. I think you’re right about the royalties. She has designed some ugly things for Topshop that go for ridiculous prices.

  • Carlos says:

Like Greta said, anything with the name Kate Moss on it has a high price.

Living in Paris, Longchamp is concidered as a luxury brand by Parisians people. And Longchamp is french, so I dont know what “luxury” means to you in this case..
