Bagaholicboy Muses #162 – Updates From Orchard Road!

Today Boo and I headed to town because I wanted to get Boo a wallet for Valentine’s Day, since like me he also believes in rotating wallets ever so often. He wanted a long wallet and after checking out Gucci, Loewe and Louis Vuitton, we settled for an intrecciato calf leather wallet from Bottega Veneta in Black. Best thing? It was more affordable than we expected at just SGD760, compared to the New Taiga ones from Louis Vuitton that were about the same price but not as worth it in my opinion.

A better buy from Louis Vuitton would be the new Monogram Canvas Artsy which comes in 2 sizes. The bigger one (in GM) is actually rather man-friendly, save for the braided shoulder strap that’s still too feminine for a guy to carry off. Large, but this one is best left to the ladies.

While at Bottega Veneta I also spotted the coated canvas tote (shown above) from the S/S10 collection. Sporting double handles which can be worn 2 ways, I only wished it was priced lower than the asking price of SGD2020. Much too expensive for something that’s 90% canvas.

Also at Paragon we checked out the spanking new Gucci flagship that was all bright and glitzy. Definitely more spacious and well laid out, it was as always packed to the brim with shoppers. Going up we spotted the RTW sections for both men and women and I chanced upon the diamante fabric tote with leather trim (shown above) from the S/S10 collection. Priced at SGD1650, it’s affordable and smart, good for everyday use.

Over at DFS Scottswalk Galleria I was surprised to see the Givenchy Studded Nylon Satchel, which became an overnight sensation after blogger Pelayo Diaz was photographed using it. I never expected to see it in Singapore since the buyers here can be quite conservative but I’m glad I did. I checked it out myself, and even though it was covered in studs it was still lightweight. In Singapore it retails for SGD1219, or get it online from Liberty at GBP485.

For those of you waiting for the Longchamp Le Pliage ‘Bone’ to arrive, wait no further. Available now at Longchamp ION Orchard, it’s quirky and adorable, though a tad pricey at SGD648. Take my advice and get it online from Colette instead where it sells for just EUR179 (around SGD346 or s0).

All in all, a great day. Boo got the wallet he was looking for, and I picked up something totally unexpected from Celine (my early birthday present to myself). Reveal to come…
