It’s actually patent lambskin leather and when seen up-close it actually looks more complicated and yes, somewhat alluring. The inside is lined with a fabric that has the Monogram pattern woven into it.

From a practical point of view, maybe it’s trash, maybe it’s so fantastic we won’t even see it hanging in a store. It’s a fashion show item anyway.

From a creative point of view, it could be brilliant. This bag already somewhat has a cult following (love it or hate it). When it is described as “delightfully everyday shape” I thought it was those draw-string Apple store shopping bags.

i actually find it artsy in a way. veering away from commercialism and traditional, doing bags the way it should be. hehe. but that is me. this is one of the bags i also want to see IRL. and possibly even thinking of getting one IF really nice and cool. AND if i can pull it off. haha.

funny, i just had a meeting with a client yesterday and she was showing me this bag. she so wanted it! like she really did a cut out from the magazine/paper.

Somehow I think that is the reaction Marc wanted. It is always better to be labelled controversial (keeps people talking and the awareness up) rather than being sedate and boring (and eventually forgotten).

Whenever I see these bags I have the feeling that Marc Jacobs is testing us, and asking himself, ‘How far can I go til even the most faithful (noncritical?) buyer will stop thinking everything must be good only because it’s from Louis Vuitton? I’m sorry, but I would NEVER ever pay such a fortune for a garbage bag – this is, what the Rainbow Besace is to me!

Hmm. I agree with you. My first reaction is repulsion. It reminds me of a garbage bag. I can’t believe this comes from LV. On the other hand, it is different and that can be good. I think that if there was a different colored drawstring, there would be less shock factor.

Dear BB, I think you can use this bag for you “Separated At Birth” series. Don’t you find it similar too a… garbage bag? I love Louis Vuitton, but this collection, and in particular this bag, it’s too much for me, I was shocked at the runway… the only bags I love are from the Monogram Eden collection, but the rest, oh gosh, maybe I’m too old for this!
