YSL Roady

October 3, 2009

Celebrities all over the world have warmly embraced it, but frankly, I’m not 100% sure. What I am talking about? The newly released YSL Roady of course, a single handle shoulder bag that’s soft, slouchy and unstructured.

On one hand, it’s simple and understated, ensuring that it will be a bestseller. On the other hand, it’s much too simple and unadulterated for my taste, not what I’ll usually expect from YSL. I’m much more used to the detailed crafted beauty of say, the Muse, the Muse Two, the Downtown and so on.

Still, don’t let that stop you; it’s still relevant enough to be a good wardrobe staple. Available in a plethora of colours and finishes, there is definitely something for everyone. And if selling loads of these ensures YSL’s survival and allows Stefano Pilati to continue with his other creations of whimsical beauty then yes; I’ll give it my blessing.

And I don’t know if this is 100% true, but a reader tipped me off that all cosmetics and skin care from YSL will be pulled from Singapore’s retail shelves this month, with only fragrances left. Hmm…

Don't really fancy the roady…like you said…it's too plain and not much interest as a bag.

Once you see a Muse, this one doesn't really cut it, does it? Hmmm.

simple doesnt mean boring….this one is….next!

The last YSL counter at TANGS will bid adieu to Singapore on my birthday – 25 October. (Fishing for advanced birthday wishes here!)

Apparently, YSL headquarters are not channeling money for A&P in Singapore anymore so they've no choice but to pull out.

    A nay! Nay nay nay!

    Thanks for the confirmation LLL!

very strange about ysl cosmetics pulling out. loreal spent a big sum of money to buy ysl beaute, so it seems odd they are pulling out from singapore, one of the more lucrative places in terms of consumer spending.

what will happen to all the poor lasses who need their touche eclat??

  • From The Bagaholicboy That Hails From Singapore says:

Well, there are just too many cosmetic brands in Singapore, and the arrival of many Japanese and Korean brands (which are very popular now here now) did not help either I guess…

I like it! Some days I don't want to be flashy, especially these days when a lot of people I spend time with are very conscious of their expenses. It's understated and is a great go-to bag. I will go get this. :-)

oh dear! where else can i get their rouge volupte lipstick? it's one of the best i've ever used

  • Anonymous says:

I like the bag itself but not the handle. As for YSL Beaute, I was told the counter located Robinsons, Raffles City is already closed.

  • Issie says:

I went to DFS scotts early December and trust me, I personally tested the YSL lipsticks. So fret not! YSL beaute is still available at DFS!

p/s Dear BB, the new layout is fabulous!
