Bagaholicboy Muses #67 – Louis Vuitton Paris City Guide

April 19, 2009   |   15 Comments

So Boo picked up his chinos from Woonderland, and I checked out Louis Vuitton for the item I wanted, which was out of stock for a while. What did I get? Why, the Louis Vuitton Paris City Guide (SGD57) of course. Seeing how I was going to visit Paris in September I thought it would be good to do some reading beforehand. Sure, there are much cheaper (and probably better) alternatives out there, but I felt that getting it was more symbolic than anything else.

Nothing is more French than Louis Vuitton, and buying the guide was a way of reminding myself that my dream of visiting Paris after so many years of yearning is finally coming true. The guide is also proving useful, already I found Boulevard de Magenta, where my hotel is located. I also picked up the Envirosax Candy Bag (SGD12.90), which was just too Pucci-esque to resist. Cheap and chic!

I also got an Envirosax bag (monochromatic) recently and I’m loving it a whole lot! Haha. The price has gone up slightly, no? Anyways where did U purchased the bag? I got mine from Metro and there was a 10% discount making it cost only $11+! That makes it even more cheap and chic! Hehe. :P

Hi Niz, I got mine at Takashimaya Department Store.

You should complement it with Timeout’s Shortlist Paris for 2009 too!

Thanks for the tip Ron! Right when I was wondering what other guide I should get to go with this as well…

BB, I just got back from Paris and you’re going to LOVE going there … I made a nice trip to a few of the LV stores around the city and one in Madrid. And although I didn’t get anything from LV this time around, I did spy an off-white Mahina bag that I have my eye one! :) hopefully, it’ll come to Bangalore soon! Have a wonderful time in Paris!!!

p.s. My suggestion for a great Paris guide book is: The Top-10 Eyewitness Travel Guide

    http://www.amazon.com/Top-Paris-Eyewitness-Travel-Guides/dp/0756632552

We used the same guides for Madrid and Barcelona and found wonderful suggestions for restaurants, bars and shops! :)

Thanks Mark, I am sure Paris will be wonderful! LV here I come!

Hey Jenjen, thanks for the link, will definitely check it out. Or maybe you should sell me your used guides instead, just a thought.

you have to get lonely planet city guides…which is a pocket size guide book packed with lots of useful info. I survive london thru that! The maps are super useful as well. more importantly..it is so small..it weighs almost nothing. this will compliment your lifestyle themed LV guide. Another good lifestyle guide will be wallpaper travel guides.

What about the Wallpaper guides? I know you’ve got some of them… any good?

  • deluxeduck says:

i’d also recommend the Top 10 Eyewitness Guides by DK. they won’t take too much space and best for a quick look while on the go.

    im excited for you!

  • Kevin and myMANybags says:

Wallpaper guides are good for lifestyle venue infos. Like chic restaurants, buildings to admire, shopping, spas….

But the map info is very weak. You need hardcore travel info, like opening hours of museums, pricing details of admission etc…they even list down some info such as the Paul Smith thrift shop which not a lot of people know!:-P The city guides by lonely planet is in full colour with lots of pics…so that helps a lot!

Lonely planet is still the best!

Lonely planet city guides is one of the best ones since it is small and compact. The info is concise but very useful. the maps on different areas is clear and easy to comprehend. You would not want to stand in middle of street to study a big map…you are just going to be a beacon of attention for potential pickpockets or other unwanted people around.:) Especially at the train stations.

Wallpaper will be almost like your LV guide:-)
