Spring-Summer 2009 Womens Chanel

Strutting down the runway at the Grand Palais in Paris from the Spring-Summer 2009 Womens Chanel fashion show were these whimsical bags. No, Karl did not go mad (yet) and send out paper bags. He could have, but he choose to reinterpret the humble paper bag and had them stitched up in leather in a variety of sizes and colours. And since we all love to be seen in town showing off our latest purchases in those designer paper bags, this is perhaps an even better solution. At least it won’t tear after repeated use. Incidentally 31, Rue Cambon (seen on the ‘paper bags’) refers to Coco Chanel’s abode above her boutique in Paris, though she lived most of her life at the Ritz.

And if that was not bizarre enough, here are some images of the reinterpreted Chanel Classic Flap as well. Quirky yes, but I would rather spend my money on the ‘paper bags’. x

I think Karl is trying very hard to impress the audience. I would rather feel a Chanel paper bag’s texture than a leather one (price is definitely 10x higher than a paper bag). But hey, itz personal opinion and there might be people out there liking it.

Was reading UK’s Cosmo and found that Botkier does make some really cool biker-chic bags. Wonder if you know how we can get out hands on one in SG?
Thanks!
Hey Dusty Bunny, there is a small selection of Botkier at 693 Fifth Avenue by Takashimaya New York (a concept space) within Takashimaya Department Store on Level 2.
Thanks BB!
